Marriage is a beating you are going to earn those assets.

Do the assets really add up to the income inequality?

You aren't going to win that way. Making legitimate plans for a divorce like you are doing will only piss her off. You are better off with no prenup and using her family assets to your advantage in the chance of a divorce. In that case, you could bargain for a fair split with you taking nothing from her family assets and her taking none of your money

Owning the land helps..like, if it's on royal or bourbon.

Why marriage now?
fair question. We do love each other even though I am online discussing this. The arrangement would be immediately mutually beneficial to both of us if we were to get married. Between medical, dental, pay increase, and transferring education benefits etc. It just makes a lot of sense at this time.

it is a good location but not that good. the value on the land will continue to increase(again solid location) but the restaurant will eventually fail. It has been around for years but the family is tired of running it.

Sounds like there is money issues, maybe even deep rooted that may impact how you really want to deal with a prenup.

I dont think there are money issues. I am in a very stable career and she is in grad school.

We are still establishing ourselves but we still have a lowend middle class lifestyle.

As far as deep rooted...maybe. My mother is terrible with money and milks my dad like a mule. He has no retirement and works paycheck to paycheck. If he got divorced...she would destroy him.

Talk to an attorney but I wouldn't tell her about it

This is horrible advice and is sure to cause a large amount of friction. Two of the biggest keys to making any marriage work is Honesty and Communication. If you have concerns about this, then speak to her about it. Be HONEST with her. You need to get everything out in the open now before you actually get married. You can pop the question but you need to make sure this is handled before the wedding. It woukd be pointless to be married and 5 yrs down the road you are screwed bc you didnt handle this then. If you do talk to her about it and she doesnt take kindly to it, then maybe she isnt the one for you.

Good luck with it though.

If I were in her position, I'd say no.

Stop borrowing problems. Enjoy the moment. Deal with a prenup if it presents itself to you. Relax

No. Go all in. One joint checking account everything goes in. Joint savings and investments. Your marriage will work out better for everyone if you're a Team, not a business.

Inheritance will be separate anyway. Make sure she works a real job when school is done. Everyone has to be all in. Period.

Yeah, after reading OP's responses in the thread, he may be putting the cart before the mule (that his mother is milking) in assuming his GF even says yes.

Go ahead fin, I know you're laughing at the point where you thought he was talking about real wealth and not a few properties. Or maybe you're laughing at the fact she may get cut out bc of him.

I don't know but I'm going to guess the only milk you could get from a mule would make the mule feel pretty good in sharing it.

OP:
ITEM #1 Pics of gf
ITEM #2 Prenup. Don't do it.

Either don't get married or if you do get married, no prenup.

You're not a Rockefeller, she's not Bill Gates' kid.

You'll doom the marriage with having one.

Her parents can probably tell it won't work out between y'all and will make sure the assets are in a trust nor something similar. No worries.
