Depending on what your addiction is, you may be in big trouble and unable to help yourself when big problems start to pop up and some can be fatal. Please see your GP first. Bless you.

Good luck to you man. The source of your strength is your eternal connection to the intelligent force that created this universe and you as a human being. Go within and see through the illusion of your egoism personality and all of the self created problems and drama that goes with that. You are an individuated piece of God consciousness and have access to all of the power that comes with that. Start reading a verse from the Tao te Ching each day along with a Bible verse and just meditate on that for the day. Turn it over to a higher power and that power will respond.

Do yourself a favor and don’t rely on prayers. Make good decisions and follow through with commitments to get your life back on track. Surround yourself with people who care about you. Get a hobby that you and maybe someone you like can get into and give it 100%.

*downvotes incoming. I’ve watched far too many people try to pray their way through issues without doing the things that will improve their situation.

Good luck to you. I’ve seen a lot of addiction issues from friends and family. Last year I lost one of my best childhood friends to it and it broke my heart not just for her but her family.
The people that I have known that have gone through it and survived and now lead normal productive lives have had strong support systems around them to hold them accountable even when they had relapses. So lean on the people that love you if you can.

Ultimately it’s up to you to make up your mind to fight for your life and the life you could have. Good luck.

Dude, I've been right where you are now. Alcohol destroyed my life and that is not an exaggeration. It cost me everything I own, the vast amount of my relationship, my job, my home, my car, even my freedom for a year. I'm now almost 3 years sober and have most of all that back.

If you want help, it's there for you. I can help guide you through the process of getting you in a treatment center which is the first step you need to take. If you're interested, email me at my user name @gmail.com. I can help but you'll have to reach out to me. Where are you located at?

Ween yourself

While you have good intentions, this is damn near impossible for an alcoholic. The crux of the problem is that once we start, NOTHING can stop of us from getting hammered. We'll take it to any extreme. IF he could slow down, trust me, he would. At our soul, every alcoholic/addict wishes he could drink like other people. We'll try until we're either dead or in jail, in many cases. He cannot ween himself. He's powerless over the substance. It controls him, he doesn't control it.

It's like getting raped by a gorilla. You're not done until the gorilla says you're done. Alcohol is the gorilla. Taking that first drink is entering the cage.

To the OP, don't try to ween yourself. Email me and we'll talk more. Supadave3@gmail.com

I have no experience with such things, but this gives me some interesting insight to the whole issue. Thanks for the perspective.

You're welcome. Admitting defeat is tough because we've been trained our entire lives to fight to the end. The fight to drink normally will eventually lead to death for the alcoholic. I know, I was on deaths doorstep at 41 years old until I finally admitted I was defeated and sought the solution.

The prayers and well wishes have literally left me in tears. I want each and every one of you to know how much your kind thoughts, words, and prayers have meant. Im following my plan and am in living hell right now and I know this is going to be a marathon and not a drag race but I'm gonna try my damnedest to beat this or die trying. I have been given clonodine to regulate my blood pressure throughout this battle so I'm hopeful it will help a little at least. Love all of ya'll and I'll try to update again ASAP. Thanks

Awesome. Keep checking in even if you don't feel like it. I almost seized out withdrawing from alcohol, thankfully I had someone monitoring me. I only have six months in but it's amazing how much things improve if you just dig down deep and stick with it. If it gets real bad don't be afraid to go to the ER, it will cut the worst of it in half.

Don't feel ashamed to reach out, lean on others. There will be some tough days, when you feel like you just can't, but you CAN. And the clarity will feel foreign at first, but it will feel good. You will get yourself back. You got this.

You got 'em.

Getting clean/sober is tough. It took me a long time, but it eventually stuck. I'm going on 24 years. The trick is to put as much time between you and your last drink/drug as possible. After some time your thoughts will be clear.

Do not be afraid/embarrassed/or too proud to ask for help. While many look at AA/NA as a crutch, I am quite sure that I would not be sober today without the help of those people who are exactly the same as me. It's the only "club" I've ever been in where EVERYONE is pulling for everyone else.

Best wishes to you.

Thanks for checking in, man...I am pulling for you and you will be in my prayers for the next few days. I know this experience is going to suck balls for you, but just stay the course and each day should get a tiny bit easier.

What a gift this will be for your friends and family!

If it's alcohol, go to the hospital please. Maybe go anyway. A lot of people get medical help, why not you?
Good luck.
