Woodford County Emergency Management Director Drew Chandler tells WKYT two barrel warehouses at a Jim Beam aging facility caught fire around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. The facility is on McCracken Pike, near the Franklin County line. Chandler says one warehouse initially caught fire with flames spreading to the second structure. Crews were able to put out the flames in the second warehouse. Flames were still visible in the first warehouse five hours after the fire started. Chandler says approximately 45,000 barrels of bourbon were in the warehouse that was still burning. He speculated crews could be on scene until late Wednesday night.

45,000 barrels of whiskey gone. Wow. Some poor fricker just jumped off a building.

So, since whiskey is aged for some length of time, does this mean that Jim Beam will have a shortage or something?

They will have a shortage of whatever label those barrels were intended for. That many barrels makes me think it’s probably value brand labels. Maybe old crow or something similar.

I prefer Crown 9 times out of 10 anyway.

I see all the downvotes. Oh well. I think Jim Beam isn’t even close to being as good as Crown. Just my opinion.

Agree wholeheartedly. I’ve got a bottle of Jim Beam laying around here somewhere. I’ll send it to you.
