I'll Travel to BTR 2-3 week and can easily avoid peak traffic times.

Madisonville is really getting bad. Think of Madisonville as Slidell West or Northwest New Orleans East. Prarieville is one of the nicest up and coming communities in all of Louisiana. Please stay or go there.

Madisonville is pretty bad. Crime, bad roads, no grocery stores. I'd scratch it off the list, if you care about your family at all.

It's even worse than this. Stay far away.

Covington/Mandeville is OK, but i don't know how much of a step "up" it is from Prairieville/Geismar....

i live in Geismar/Dutchtown, and love it... i like the still small town feel, with some amenities/conviences of a larger town... plus its not far at all from BR

Gunshots outside in the hood as we speak. Those mean Bedico Streets.

You should move there and then every time you meet someone, talk about the neighborhood you live in, forever, really emphasize it, even if they don't seem to give a shite.

That seems to be the trend with transplants here.

Maybe it's the transplants I hate, then. Because this annoys the everliving shite out of me. People always ask where I live or where my kids go to school. It's like they're marking off a mental checklist to see how much better than you they are. I was never asked where I live in BR unless someone needed to come to my house. But, it's like the first thing peoole ask about you here.

I hear ya. It's almost entirely transplants as well as some locals with insecurities latching onto the school/neighborhood thing. Transplants, its like most of them move here thinking it's some exclusive club. It's not, just a great place to live.

Come on in the water is fine. Traffic in the last ten years has become a son of a bitch. One of the big problems is it was a county town and the roads are not set up in a grid like a lot of growing cities. Only three major north south roads across the parish. If one of these gets shut down for any reason, it is a mess.

We are trying to leave prairieville. People are fine, schools are great but the outright disregard for infrastructure as developers run amuck is contributing to the eventual ruin of this place. Nothing is done About the roads and eventual overflow of oak grove primary and dutchtown.

My husband grew up on the Northshore and his dream is to live in Madisonville, but I just don't see the feasibility of it with his job. I'm flexible but he is not. Plus.. There is some value in the amount of friendships and networks I have built in the 11 years of living in BR. That is hard to replace, especially since we rely so much on friends here to help with the baby.

Just stay there. The cops here are rough.

If you think you're gonna drive your RAV4 around here while you text and apply lipstick, you've got another thing coming ma'am.

If only I could get a fine car like a RAV4.

I don't apply lipstick and drive. Just mascara.
