Government Modus Operandi 101.

People who wait on gov to tell them about shite are always facked.

Remember your gov officials:

1- never miss a paycheck
2- never face consequence for shite decisions
3- never admit fault
4- always take care of theirs before they let you know to take care of yours

I know it's too late, but a bathtub full of water fixes a whole lotta issues during emergencies - hurricanes or ice storms.

You can get a lot of toilet flushes, teeth brushes and cooked meals out of 1 bathtub of water. Like a whole weeks worth.

hate leaving downtown but we bought a bigger house on an amazing deal because of storm damage. It's an easy repair but the old guy wants to take insurance money and down size.

I’d like to talk to you about this on a private channel, if possible. We lucked out and are going to rent from a friend (at a normal price), while trying to find a good deal exactly like you did to buy. We’re moving at the end of March. Let me know if you’d help a brother out!

Word is FEMA is giving a huge percentage of rebuilding. The cost of demolition is astronomical right now so they’re better off starting new with more space etc. I don’t have a dog in the hunt as my kids will be done by the time either option is finished. From a purely financial perspective new location makes all the sense, from a historical and cultural standpoint rebuilding in the neighborhood makes sense. The current location is actually similar in nature to Catholic High in BR (save for the multimillion dollar homes right near Catholic campus)

Hardest part is contractors and financing, good contractors are way out, no bank will loan on a damaged property. SBA will but the hoops are very small and contractors become the lynch pin again.

House is toasty, pipes are fine. But my cable is out and my heart was set on a Love Boat retrospective on tvland or whatever that channel is . Now I’ll never know if Gopher finds true love. Damn all of you.
Once my power came back on yesterday at 5pm, that's my situation too.

Re the cable- is it Cox? Because my box is out, but I can still use Contour and stream stuff. I ended up watching the news on my desktop, which is a 32" so it isn't bad.

7° with rolling blackouts every 40 minutes. Better than yesterday now that our water heater is defrosted and all the ice in the pool is broken up.

The fear of your situation is why I've been up for all but an hour going around running faucets and toilets every hour or two.

Yeah, I've had all 4 sinks running a thin stream (just above a drip) since Sunday night. Set the dishwasher to come on automatically the past 2 nights and did laundry at 2AM just to keep things going.

Sorry brah, I am sincerely happy for you & your wife on the addition and I honestly didn’t mean to try to one-up you. I can certainly see how it would have appeared to have looked that way. Upon further review I should have posted only my congratulatory wishes. Apologies & congratulations!

I let everything drip overnight. Got down to 7 and everything stayed unfrozen. Now we've just got to survive round 2

Some qualify for FHA rehab loans or if you have 20% down a local bank will work with you.

We went local with a bank we have a relationship with but I have a few clients I am helping that went with FHA rehab loans.

Sitting by the fire place contemplating walking on the back porch and smoking a bowl before I fire off about 4 emails that constitute my work load today. Probably skip breakfast, have a Bloody about 10am and start cooking something. The what to cook will be the biggest decision of the day. Until tonight when it will be scotch or bourbon.

This sounds awfully close to my daily plan (sans fire)....

ETA: after actually reading the thread, I Hope all of you guys make out OK. Sorry for those impacted by the cold weather. Hang in there.
