Maybe not that important and who is to say you won’t move again in the future but just curious. Does MS have any sort of TOPS equivalent for their residents? Just wondering about potential college tuition impacts of being a LA vs MS resident

No... Mississippi does not have a TOPS like program. I've never heard of any other state having such a thing either. Really a good idea when considering the educational state of the southeast

Carriere just north of picayune has a great school district and some nice neighborhoods and still some open land if you looking for acreage. It’s gotten more expensive as of late but still a bargain compared to metro areas. Poplarville is great too but schools are not as good but still better than Picayune

ETA: be warned we are still a dry county and nothing but beer inside the city limits only nothing outside the city. Luckily the liquor store in Pearl river isn’t far

I hear NOLA East is nice. You’d only have about a 40-45 minute commute. Folks do that all the time between Downtown Houston and The Woodlands.

Small price to pay for the finer things in life.

Diamondhead is 1 exit East of where you can get to Texas Flat Rd, which is the back way into Stennis from the I-10 corridor. It’s also West of the Buckee’s construction that’s currently underway, so you wouldn’t have to deal with that.

Sorry man, I didn't communicate that well. I meant I'd rule out Diamondhead first before considering any other communities.

Stennis is 35-40 minutes from east side of Mandeville. Your family will appreciate your extra 10 minute commute.

A friend of mine worked at Stennis and commuted from Carriere, MS. A little past Picayune and you’d have to like the rural life.

People are saying the schools in Pass and BSL are good. I don't know. I would look hard into that if you have young kids.

I would not do Slidell unless you want private schools.

I work for the DON at Stennis. Have lived in Carriere sinc3 2007, moved from south LA after Katrina and love it. I'm about to lost my custom built 2000sqf 4/2, it's water front on a 400 acre lake with a 40x30 shop and my homeowners is only 2500 a year

With the traffic pinches on I-10 and near the state line. I would choose Picayune.

Also, you are further away from the coast for cheaper insurance rates.

I'd love to be in covington/mandeville/Abita springs area. I could do longer if they offer a hybrid schedule but I'd have to see. I'm just picking some brains right now.

Both Florida and Georgia have state scholarship programs from the lottery.
