Where have I blamed white peoples for black community problems?
You can't read, son

guess what is really said is that every person I have engaged in this thread has made a comment that leads me to believe that they do not respect African Americans
What did I post in this thread that made you think that?
Was it when I said we should've used the money to improve the infrastructure and schools in their neighborhoods instead of a meaningless gesture?

Ya, because people like you do not care enough, or at all more than likely, to try and mend this racial divide. You want your gosh darn statue & that's the end of it!

or blaming them for racial divide is getting old.
(Or). Suggesting one or more of the items listed. You can't read, son.

"We can't even give them that victory."
Not that most of us care but what have they won? The right to keep complaining and doing nothing to change the perception that a percentage of blacks come off as arrogant, ignorant, self entitled, uneducated and lazy. I really blame the parents and the education system for instilling this victim mentality instead of training them to be successful. As some one who has employed between 25 to 45 people for over 35 years...the minute I sense entitlement, victimization or general lazy attitude...I pass in an attempt to protect my business. I don't care what color they are, I just know trouble when I see it! Give me people that are ambitious and team players every day and their education level might be secondary to the decision to hire or fire. Attitude is everything. Education in a certain community is looked down on and I think the educational community has been a major factor in the failure. The harassment of those that try to better themselves by being called "Uncle Tom" only hurts. When did the right way become the wrong way? It's just stupid and backwards!

I was reluctant to visit NOLA before because it's on the most of the "top violent cities" lists.
But I figured that if I stay in the touristy areas that I would fine.
Now I'll never visit. I have zero desire to finally support a local government so inept.
Plenty of other places for me to spend my vacation funds at.

It's a symbol of a step in the right direction.

It's an absolute disgrace that this actually happens.

The only thing close to as funny as Mitch saying people left the city bc of statues are the people who are saying they will never spend another dollar or visit NOLA bc they took down the statues

They have ground to stand. Landrieus message was weak, no doubt. But the real people are fighting for a cause they believe in
Mitch told them they should be offended, and they fell right in line. 99% of the people in New Orleans can't tell you a single fact about any of the monuments and they can't even tell you where they were located.
We've had black mayors for decades and I never heard a single thing about these monuments until Mitch brought it up and told people they should be offended. If I'm wrong provide me a single link to anyone discussing the monuments before 2015.

The monument take down is a victory for their race
False. A victory for their race would be a sharp decrease in crime. In prison population. In single parent households. A vast increase in high school graduation rates and college graduation rates. And two parent households.
quote:
white people are fighting against it, not because of the importance of a statue, but because the supporters are simply black.
Wrong. Logical people are fighting against it because it is a massive waste of time, resources, and is nothing more than pandering.
quote:
We can't even give them that victory. We can't even come out and acknowledge, hey, we need to do better as a nation.
Because it isn't a victory. For anyone. It changes nothing. Except more division. All the time and money spent on the statues could have gone to so many more productive things that actually help people in need. Instead, it was a complete waste and nothing more.
quote:
nstead the opposition has been rooted in racial jockeying. "Hey we can't give them that!!!"
Holy shite balls you are ignorant as frick. Please do the world a favor and sterilize yourself.

Scruffy has moved it far down on his list of places to visit because the city itself has become such a violent hellhole.
Hell, it has always been violent, but it has become significantly worse and the violence is bleeding over into normally violence free areas.
The fact that this statue controversy was even on the forefront of anyone's minds is what is truly the problem.
Like Scruffy said in previous posts, this was a distraction technique by a selfish politician with national aspirations. Mitch attempted to build up his political future through sham issues while disregarding the actual violence running rampant in the streets of New Orleans.

quote:not really. Sorry but that just don't seem to be the case anacdotally from someone at ground zero. Not sure exactly scruffy's age but what we are seeing the first quarter of this year in violence used to be a good year when it comes to violence... this is on top of the fact that nearly no areas are complete war zones like they once were. You see all races in almost every neighborhood, that was far far from what it was in the 80-90,s

This
He's done nothing to better New Orleans in the 8 years since he's been in office

When NOLA is no longer in the top 50 most dangerous cities in the world, we discuss this topic again.

The argument is sound but I don't think some of them even realize their bias is keeping them from taking a step back and seeing it from the other camp because of who that camp encompasses. My opinion of course.
I'm really indifferent on the matter, yes I hate the potential for a slippery slope but you just have to set back and hope people use common sense from here on out and hope the city moves forward from this all and oh lord the dreaded phrase, 'makes progress'

How many thugs will continue to kill each other every day?
If they would fix their culture instead of blaming it on statues they didn't have a problem with until the white man told them to have a problem with it, then we wouldn't need to start these threads.
Thug culture is a blight on society

Probably...as long as the anti-monument people keep ignoring the real problems and blame every fricking thing on whitey and some dead guys. Was that the right answer?
