The only thing close to as funny as Mitch saying people left the city bc of statues are the people who are saying they will never spend another dollar or visit NOLA bc they took down the statues
How is that funny?
Because both are absurdly rediculous

So not the statues?
Sooo... Does this mean you think we should focus on the ACTUAL problems, and not some made up "woe is my feelings" bullshite like statues?

Because one is real and one is bullshite?
How bout that Washington monument? How bout that giant statue of the racist abe lincoln? How bout those 60 foot tall bust of slave owners carved into a mountain in a federal park? How about the faces on our currency? Our street names? Or parish names? Our states? Mascots?
At what perceived "slight" do you say OK.. Now you're just being stupid?

New Orleans has been the way it is now for as long as I've been alive. Pre Katrina, New Orleans was one of the most dangerous cities in the world. Why did no one blame the statues for racial division or racial tension back then?

It's not a zero sum game
Well if that ain't dodging the question then Idk what is.
At what point. Do you, superstaint, say okay. This completely inanimate object has ZERO affect on my life. And placing any blame on such objects or acting offended by them is not only pointless, but detrimental to the end goal of "equality" and "fairness" and "inclusion"
At what point do you say no, stop the victim mentality, and look for change from within?

Why not both?
Perfect question for Mitch

Man I don't know honestly. I've already stated I dislike Mitch and I hate the slippery slope that this could take, but at this point I think it's being a bit overblown. There isn't much we can do at this point is try to learn from this and move on and hopefully hopefully start to bring the community together

I wish this were the case, but the only thing that will be learned is that these fanatical activists can force these politicians to bend the knee and kiss the ring.

I wish you were right but I think upgrayedd is closer to it than you are. The whole thing has been sad, scary, and exhausting
