Grant probably views it in a different light. To this point, there has been no punishment handed down by the Oregon School Activities Association. A response is expected to come this week.

I have never seen, at any level of football, a team make its pregame entrance by going around the field rather than "crossing the playing surface". What kind of excuse is that?

The player did slow down and size up the 1 guy that just happened to be holding the American flag.
I agree that the banned for life, jailed, and assault charges are a bit much. But that player needs to sit for at least 1 game (they are 1-6, so not a big loss). And since the coaching staff refused to address it in the moment, the head coach needs to sit for at least 1 game longer than the player.

This is exactly what happened. I know the mouth breathers hear "Portland" and "American Flag" and automatically think of west coast liberals. It was a cheap shot and it just happened that the guy had the flag.
Blacks don't normally attack the flag, that is more liberal/soy boy behavior.
If you want to make it something, make it a black vs white attack. Not dude vs. America.

I just searched college football fights and these were the first 3 pictures that came up. Actually the LSU Florida pregame fight had about 2 pages worth but I didn’t feel the need to actually keep scrolling to find more pictures to prove that football players hopped up on adrenaline and testosterone do stupid shite.

I think this is where I am on it too. Just seemed like he teed up the first player he saw rather than targeting the flag. You can even tell he just wanted a cheap shot with how he hops away celebrating after the hit. And good on the kid that gets hit to hop up and charge after the dude too.
All in all, to me this seems like rivalry assholishness more than anything anti-American.
ETA: and obviously should've been flagged by the officiating crew.
