And there you have it, the truth comes out. So you live rurally and don't want to pay more, so you spew a bunch of BS because I live in a city with multiple options.

I'm sorry but if you live some where rural your options for this are limited.

Do you want the government to support other private business like Whole Foods to deliver to you for free too because you deserve options? I don't think it's absurd that if a company invests in your area, that they get free reign on their business decisions. If that decision is to limit your options or pay up, that is their business decision.

What percentage of people will this actually affect? Don't give me the Bs about 'most of america', maybe most geographically but not most of the population when most live in cities with multiple options.

What city do you live in? Right now, how many ISPs can you choose from and what are the company names?

why does one ISP exist for most? BecUse of net neutrality.

That's completely asinine. Do you understand what an ISP is and how the actual infastructure of the Internet works?

I actually don't live rurally. I said my rural hometown.

I live in a 50k+ city. I only have one ISP option, and no one is beating down the bushes to offer my city another one.

Quit trolling,

I mean holy shite dude.

The depressing part is they aren't trolling. They don't understand how the Internet works they just take it for granted like water and electricity.

Imagine if the energy company decided only certain light bulbs would recieve the energy needed to power on and all other light bulbs would be barely visible dim light.

This guy's response is, whatever, someone else will build a power plant and run all the lines out to your house.

So anyone that disagrees with you is a troll?

Net neutrality does inhibit competition because everyone has to offer everything. If the options are limited, for example Cox internet restricts Netflix because they have Cox on demand then yes Netflix would help a competitor. That's free market.

Again, I'm not against net neutrality I'm against government involvement.

But that's what they aren't getting. In Louisiana, the internet is JUST like water and electricity. It's a de facto public utility here (and will be for a very, very long time).

Would they support the electric company blacking them out if the company thought they were watching too much Fox News? Or if the company said you only get full service if you watch nothing but CNN?

How about if the water company said we won't provide you water at all if you have sprinklers?

Do they really think a whole new electric company or water company will emerge to save them?

It's called solar, propane.

Your answer is, it's the current way or doomsday. Which is Bs and you know that.

You are like a socialist here, the government is involved or we are fricked.

I'm sorry I'm not a socialist.

Holy shite. I hope this is a Troll, if not this response is mind blowing.

How about the water company analogy?

Youre not allowed to flush the toilet if you eat certain foods? Someone will dig new sewers?

No, we understand perfectly

But youre sounding like all the damn Obamacare whiners. "If you don't fix this, I wont have healthcare. And by 'fix it', I mean the way I want it, where I don't have to pay anything for it"

The Internet is a business. People are in it to make money. If you want to participate, fine.

I bet you griped when cell phones came out, because you didn't want to pay 5x more than your landline, just to have a phone in your pocket

Have no fear, everything will be OTA in a decade or less.

You get 1 G/bps, no one will need LAN except for the carriers who need backhaul.

There are a lot of frickers in this thread that have no idea what it takes to send a fricking text message or type a shitpost here on TD.

The magic alternative is it's not going to be the doomsday you think it will be. It will change certainly, but how are you 100% certain it will change for the worse? Phone companies changed to cell phones, horses changed to cars.

Again, we don't need the government involved to make it right.

Verizon / TMO / AT&T will cross over into internet transmission sales in more ways than you think already.

You really think they are laying miles of fiber down for you?

What in the hell are you talking about? Innovation has nothing to do with being allowed to surf the internet freely.
