Look, I realize that you may have been fed that myth, but it simply doesn’t have basis in fact.
West African slaves simply adopted the cuisine of the area they were now in and brought with them some of the spices from Africa.
It’s not a bad thing. But trying to Claim that Africans invented things they didn’t is just patently false.

I didn't claim they invented it, but it is a fairly universal idea, the frying of food in oil. It became a huge part of their culture out of necessity for survival.

The Popeyes home office is in Miami. Popeyes is owned by a Canadian company, headquartered in Toronto. While I have not tried one yet, I hear those Canadians have invented a mighty find Canadian chicken sandwich. It apparently has some kind of spicy Canadian mayo on the bun.

I can name you three local, non-franchise places, that have better fried chicken than anything you will get in a box or tub through a drive-through window. Two of those places are owned and operated by black families, the other is white owned and operated. Ya'll keep lining up at CFA and Popeye's for the convenience of fast food, and I will keep eating real fried chicken.
BTW, all three have lines, particularly on Sunday after church.

Hattie B's original recipe is pretty good. The other flavors be garbage. looks and tastes like they mixed red koolaid (the cheap kind) with shitty buffalo sauce.
