At this point, I have no idea how people can remain Catholic.
...the answer to this is quite simple. Being Catholic has nothing to do with the atrocities that you are referring to. Catholics do not deal with this in every day life, or in any way at Church. These events are extremely foreign to your average Catholic. Our local Priests do not support protection or suppression of the issue.
In other words, it is a tragedy. But, Catholicism isn't about being in a "club". Catholicism is a vehicle that we view as the best path to living life the way we are supposed to live.

Simple. I believe if you loosen restrictions on becoming a priest you’ll get a better applicant pool for a lack of a better term. Perhaps less pedos?
I would bet there are lots of guys who choose getting married and having a family over the priesthood. Would probably do both if allowed.

What do they have to vote on? How are they not required to turn suspected molestors over to police as soon as they find out?

You would get double or maybe triple the number of priests who choose that path for a career and/or life. They could actually offer personal and practical experience when it comes to spiritual guidance in regards to marriage, kids, family, etc. shite, for that matter we'd probably see legacies of priest families, which would promote longevity and less shuffling around of priests. I think the better question to ask is why it wouldn't accomplish anything - other than a "because the Vatican says so" - type answer.

delay their vote today on tackling sexual abuse
I said this earlier, I find it odd that they are delaying a vote on whether or not to tackle this issue, when it's obviously a wide spread issue within the leadership of the church.
Maybe I don't know what the Catholic church is about. I used to think it was sort of a Christian organization. I guess not anymore.

This completely misunderstands the priesthood. The Catholic Church is sacramental, and the sacraments are only possible because of a union with the high priesthood of Jesus Christ. In the Eucharist, the Church uses bread like Jesus used, wine like Jesus used, and a man like Jesus used in his hypostatic union. People want to undo libraries full of sacramental theology for a supposed practical reason. There will never be women priests in the Catholic Church because it was not the intention of God, just as it was not the intention of God for men to bear children. People who think the Church is just some type of game with rules that can change are misinformed, although I must admit that Pope Francis does a pretty good job of presenting that view.

The Church literally came before the New Testament. Read Acts of the Apostles, and tell me if those guys were looking at the Bible for instruction. Jesus Christ built his Church on Peter, the rock, and "what is bound on earth shall be bound in heaven, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Although, admittedly, it gets pretty damn close sometimes.
And if you want Scriptural support, why in the heck weren't Mary and Mary Magdalene present at the Last Supper. It was actually completely bizarre to have a Passover meal without women present. But spiritual fatherhood was not possible for women. Because they are different. Not unequal. Just different. Mary is Queen of Heaven and Earth and the most perfect human being ever to live not named Jesus.

I legitimately don't know what the frick this means. My point is that the Catholic Church does not just decide what she believes. God does that. There is a reason that every Church has bowed down to secular society since Protestantism when Catholicism throughout history dictated secular society. Because the Catholic Church doesn't comply to rulers of this world. Contraception, gay marriage, IVF, abortion, will never be moral. But every Joe Schmo Protestant church is putting this stuff up to a vote or personal conscience.

Ok, so you can't provide scripture. So basically, you're talking out of your arse. Thanks.

Please show me in Scripture where it says that Scripture alone provides revelation. I'll wait.

Such an ignorant and archaic way of thinking. This is why we have problems that don’t ever seem to be resolved.

How is the woman "priesthood" going for the Anglicans right now? Solving all of their problems?

Why would you follow something that isn’t based on scripture?
