Sure but they are not mutually exclusive. One can work within the system to change their material circumstances and rise up a class but the structural issues will still be there.
The fact is that multinational corporations and lobbying and rigging of the "system" by the ultra wealthy does more harm to the middle and upper middle class than the welfare queens do.

We know some poors just like this that drive us crazy. They are lazy sacks of shite always looking for a handout and as soon as they get it they blow it.
I remember at one time years ago one set of them had nicer cars than us and we had very very good jobs and they did not. Of course those cars got repo'd.

People that complain about poors taking vacation are the same people that celebrate giving companies money to stimulate the economy.
They have all sorts of data and charts that shows that for every dollar they give to this company it generates more than that amount in economic activity.
Well, guess what..
The money you give to these people generates more economic activity than the original amount.
So pick a stance on welfare and stick to it.

Covid is only going to make it worse since so many here are dependent on the service industry. It's not Disney world, but with SXSW, ACL, etc, a lot of people here are also highly dependent on tourist money. SXSW being cancelled hurt a lot.

The ultra rich can afford to lobby and get the rules written to garner outcomes in their favor.
It is not productive to yell at poor people other than to feel good that you aren't poor like them.
