speculation on your part.
As a juror it would be your duty to interpret the fact presented.
"Reasonable doubt", what does it mean?

Gun identified in right front pocket. Already stated right arm free and resisting arrest. Final verbal warning. Don't move

I've seen it. Cops should be trained to do better than an "Activist", don't you think?
2. You seem to have missed the point of the video.

C. When you reach towards the gun?
D. When you establish a grip on the gun?
E. When you start the draw?
F. When the gun clears the pocket/waistband/holster?
G. When the gun is pointed at the officer?
H. When you fire the first shot at the officer?
all of this is justified...

B. When you resist their attempts to take you into custody?
Given perfect information, not justified on its own...but I think it's reasonable to give police officers the benefit of the doubt in this situation given the risks that they take.

How in the hell could that be?
Man fighting for his life. Felon, on-parole, awaiting trial for drug possesion two weeks before with a weapon on him. He had been out ~6 months from one sentence and was about to go for at least another 5-10 years. When a 300+ pound man decides to fight, it will be a fight.

quote:He's a 300lb dude who just took 2 shots with a taser and didn't go down. is it really that hard to believe he can overpower 1 cop? I say 1 because only 1 cop was concentrated on his right arm.
I CAN see his arm is free in frame #1. How in the hell could that be?

quote:Again, 2 taser shots weren't good enough.
Both cops were laying on top of Alton trying there best to restrain him. I guess their best wasn't good enough.
And even if their best wasn't good enough to keep his arm away from maybe going for the gun in his pocket, that's not on them, that's on the perp.

Holy Cow batman, did the OT actually convince someone to change their view on a highly polar topic?

You're not being reasonable if you think the answer is E, and you don't have any idea how fast all of these situations progress. It happens in a split second. I don't think a reasonable person can honestly expect an officer to wait until E happens. The officer's life matters. C is the best answer.

Seems somewhat similar to the Philando(sp?) Castille incident, but the entire incident is on video.
Pretty sure the office was charged and convicted.

I'm not certain it would go poorly, but I don't think it would be at all wise for some officer to ever testify that he killed a suspect because of one of the acts in the OP occurred and that's when his training told him it was time to shoot.
Depends on the facts specific to each individual scenario. This is one of the problems. Society wants a one size fits all set of rules that fit every scenario. That simply is not possible.

Bump for the night crew because we had a once in a lifetime OT attitude change. What is your answer to the OP?
