Asking others for guidance on nuance is asking for trouble. There is a difference between finding something humorous and ridiculing or mocking someone's behavior. Your conscience will have to be your guide.

I've made jokes in the past out of poor taste and apologize. They really are some incredible people and getting to know a kid with Downs is something I honestly encourage everyone to do. I've got a friend named Brandon who has a mild case and believe it or not is a state champion power lifter. I've never seen the dude without a smile and in general walks around with an extremely positive demeanor towards himself and others.

do feel bad though, because those are some of the happiest people in planet earth without a care in the world. They were just dealt a shitty hand in life.

Sounds like I'm the one who was dealt the shitty hand.

It is. I think a key is thinking about if it is exploitive or if you are emphasizing your own superiority over them. Even then it is difficult to judge.

I didn't and still don't particularly like Howard Stern because of how his "freaks" are used for promotion of the show. It seems like they are being used and exploited for promotion of his show to me, but a while ago an acquaintance of mine argued that he was actually helping these people out. They want to be there. I argued that they didn't know any better, but then who is putting himself in a position of superiority? It can be confusing.

I hate PC culture, but adults who make fun of those with disabilities are losers. It says more about them than anything. People who do usually don't have any sort of significance in society or their community.

I'll admit it's funny, but I'm not gonna personally make fun of them (just like midgets).

There is a new show on TV about a bunch retarded people wanting to get married and have kids

Not going to lie, i've chuckled at their expense a few times so. Is there a line that needs to not be crossed when it comes to laughing at them or do you just not find any of these internet memes funny at all?

not laughing at some of the things handicapped people do is denying them of the little piece of normal they have. The memes are pretty funny, but in general ds people can be hilarious.

I think its fricked up. I have laughed at their expense as well, but to be fair I have laughed at alot of other people's expense as well, however; if you are going to frick with people at least frick with someone who can think good enough to put up a fight.

there is a difference in laughing at something you think is funny and going rub it in their face that they are slow and ds.

when genuinely laughing (not in their face) at a joke or observation i dont see a problem. when you go out of your way to look like a funny guy or a bad arse at their expense is when you are a POS. and that really goes for anyone suffering anything (including the fatties)
