Jeff Landry is in bed with these foreign owned scumbags. All other candidates said they'd push for stronger restrictions on the pogy/menhaden fishing industry.

And yet, all I see are his signs in people's yards all over. Louisiana will never learn. Y'all think Jindal and JBE are bad, just wait until this state is abused by ol' Jeff so he can use us as a stepping stone to his next higher political office. He is the shadiest of them all. Crooked as a question mark, that MF!

Their plant south of Abbeville does provide a decent amount of jobs to that area, so that could be his motivation. That being said - that industry is fricking the fish habitat in the gulf

No need to outlaw it altogether, just pass common sense restrictions like in TX, MS, AL, FL so they have to fish further offshore and don’t decimate the close to shore redfish population as a result.

Karen’s would still get their catfood, would just have to pay a little more for it to cover the additional diesel costs.

I worked off shore one summer in college. When those pogy boats passed by the stench lingered for hours.

The answer is not the politicians it’s litigation. Keep those photos of the dead redfish and reports handy. They will come in useful in time.

Got thisreply about my questioning about Holly Beach on Monday 9/18

The most resent study was 2012, the other 3 were 99, 01, 94. With one paper citing a few smaller studys with the most recent 2016 that they are making recommendations and decisions off of

If the Cameron beaches still aren’t cleaned up keep reporting it to WLF do they can make the companies come back and clean up their mess. It will take more than one week for nearly 850,000 fish to wash ashore.

Figured I’d ask why they don’t have turtle exclusion devises like trawlers while I was at it. Just another regulation they have avoided over the years.

“ Attached are the bycatch studies I previously mentioned and an estimate of bycatch produced by LDWF based on those data. In regards to turtle bycatch, there is an ongoing project through NOAA (LINK ) that puts observers on menhaden vessels from 2023 through 2027 for quantifying turtle interactions. I do not have any documentation regarding that work as it is ongoing, but previous work has also documented turtle and marine mammal interactions in that fishery.

The menhaden company has informed us that they were in the process of cleaning up those fish this weekend and those efforts may already have been completed.”

Does anyone know Jeff landrys email? I’ll email him and ask his thoughts.

Nevermind. Just read the thread and see where he supports pogy boats.

Can you please repost that Jeff Landry is a possible contributor to this so that anyone can research for themselves and vote for anyone that is willing to solve this crisis?

I am unable to follow the money on this particular issue with Jeff Landry.
However I have many other data points.
Landry has the inside track to be elected.
If that happens, in my opinion, we will see more corruption than we have since Huey Long.

I’ve been saying this since day 1. Landry is more corrupt than JBE and LaToyoa
