Two people died in Vermilion Parish early this am — one driver crossed the center line and struck an 18 year old classmate of my daughter; they had graduated in May.

Both drivers were killed and state police report that neither had their seatbelt on. Who knows for sure if it would have helped but it wouldn’t have hurt.

Please buxkle up. It’s not that hard.

Its mind-blowing how sometimes we don't do stuff that we know is in our best interests.....no matter how smart we are, and regardless of how often we are told. I am guilty of that myself sometimes am embarrassed to say

RIP

They were both from the same town of kaplan. I’m assuming that the families likely know each other. My daughter is at school out of state and is devastated. He was her “husband” for their theology project their senior year.

A good kid — doing what he was supposed to be doing — just headed to work.

It's such a habit for me that I will stop at the edge of my street to check the mail and put my seat belt back on to simply drive into my driveway. I wish this were the case for everyone. It's so easy.

I’m ready for 2020 to keep moving right along. This. My husband had a recent surgery (he’s fine but in needy predicament for a while longer). Kobe (not affected personally but being a wife/mother that hit home).

2020 can keep marching on — I think I need a vacation already.

Blame the parents. My father and mother would have beat me to death had I survived a crash where I didn’t have my seatbelt on.

Sorry to hear this, truly tragic.

I don’t personally know anyone who says they don’t wear a seat belt nowadays.

Vehicles make a pretty decent ruckus if you don’t have the belt fastened.

I'll never understand why seatbelts are so difficult for people to use. I know many people complain it's 'uncomfortable' or simply annoying to put on.

Sorry that happened to your b-i-l.

You might want to read up on the science of probability.

For every one story like this, there have to be a thousand where the seatbelt saved their life.

Guy I know was driving too fast and had front tire blow out.truck flipped end over end.He went halfway through windshield and was crushed. His wife had seatbelt on and survived with relatively minor injuries.
When I was working ICU we had couple of patients in car accidents that were thrown out and landed in fire ant beds.Talk about a mess, they were covered head to toe with bites.

I always wear mine now, but about 25 years ago I was leaving a job interview, only going across the street to get something to eat, and a 16 year old girl ran a red light and hit me on drivers side...flipping my car.

If I had been wearing my seatbelt then, I'd probably be in a wheelchair or worse.

One funny thing about it, I had my tackle box in the trunk and it flew out, scattering lures all over a busy highway.

I was in shock I guess but I crawled out of my car, in a torn suit and bloody, and proceed to start picking up my lures.

Some people came over and got me out of the intersection.

Ended up with two herniated discs in my neck.
