I worked at the Ag Center many moons ago as a student -- there was an LSU employee "runner" type position that was held by a guy who'd been in a tractor accident -- was trapped on top of an ant pile under the tractor until help could come. He was quite maimed but could walk (with an awkward limp) and function -- I was told part of the problem was from the actual ant bites and the other was from well, having a tractor on top of him.
(No not seatbelt related story but still).

And while I do understand that cases like this and the one of the poster above whose cousin (?) was trapped and died in the vehicle fire, statistically, seatbelts save lives.

I agree completely. It was just my lucky day...so to speak.
