there is no way I could justify paying the 50-70 thousand those trucks are going for.
Spending that kind of money on a truck is a waste of financial resources, there is really no debating it. However, most of us spend money on things that are a financial waste, so it doesn't really bother me.
No one has ever purchased a platinum F250 and thought, "this was a solid use of capital."

Industrial sales people might beg to differ. Having a truck like that to host clients in can help close a big account.
But yes, your points are mostly correct

Saw a billboard yesterday for an LTZ Z71. $571 per month. Kicker at the bottom of the ad was 84 months. Only dumbass people finance a truck for 84 months
Shall we discuss the financial logic behind financing a vehicle?
ETA: To be clear, financing is often the better financial choice.

A lot of your coworkers talk personal finances with you?

Is truck note really "personal finances"?

Meh, in my experience a person with a $65k truck is not shy about how much they're paying for said truck.

It's personal and about money, so I say yes.

if you don't have kids who cares.
now if you got kids this is kinda stupid.

I can only speak anecdotally, but I couldn't tell you the terms on any of my friends, let alone my coworkers, vehicles. And there are plenty of pricey vehicles within those groups.
I could tell you the approximate price, but not the terms.

90% of them pay >$800 note each month for 72 months and then trade it in during year three for a huge loss

Who the frick discusses car notes?
Posted on 4/17/17 at 3:05 pm to Nado Jenkins83
I'll disagree there (on principle) if the owner can easily afford an $800 note and still provide for the family.
FWIW Idont care how anyones money is spent bc they aren't spending my money.

Having to worry about paying one less bill is worth it. Someone should come up with a service that sums and pays all of your bills at once

You might think it's crazy, but if you've ever had a crew cab full size truck you will forget about the cost.
Ppl always talk about Toyota's but look at what 02 Silverado's are going for and the miles.
I have a 2015 Silverado Crew Cab 1500 LT
Had a 2012 got rid of it because of my commute, but had to get back in a 1500

i agree with that. but kids are the most expensive thing in the world IMO. if someone chooses not to have them they have a lot more spare change in their pocket.
its just funny to me how some people rationalize spending through their own eyes. maybe that guy doesn't want/need at 300k house or a swimming pool or a beach condo in florida.

Not really
Unless you are rolling in some old negative equity, a truck won't depreciate that much in 3 years as long as it's not beat up
I trade in about every 3 years and I have never been close to upside down.

Why choose "Platinum" over other trims?
The term "Platinum" is cliche now

I would guess most live in rentals and spend 80% of their income on an ugly truck.
