that bright yellow airline had the best safety record in the world.

Friend of mine was a pilot for them (got out a few months before they went tits up).

Said their CEO always drilled into them that “we are a one-crash airline.” Basically, “we’re not good enough to have a crash in our record and still be a company”

Guess it still wasn’t good enough but always made me laugh

They absolutely had get there itis here. They pushed through weather that should have been flown around.

They did a huge loop south around the main storm, and the cell they flew into was rapidly forming.

Because how the family said the text came through sounds like that was fire off around the western coast where discussions were beginning to happen in that cockpit. As multiple of us have said why they went north is puzzling but it wasn’t a oh I’m too busy with my phone to pay attention. I highly doubt from all the facts I’ve seen this “text” was sent in the middle of the storm when she’s telling ATC about precipitation, turbulence, icing, etc. asking for a higher altitude. I know for me last night with the more advanced radar on the A320 series I was scanning up and down manually telling the radar what altitude I wanted to look at vs just letting it do its auto return skirting the edge of the system out over the Atlantic planning my descent.

For all you know she didn’t want to fly into this mess but the Captain overrode her and she had nothing really to do and was scared and texted her BF saying she loved him.

I really need to know how they ended up agreeing to be flown by young amateurs like that...putting your young kids lives in their hands is looney tunes to me.

So you’re a dictator? Or a Communist? What else don’t you like that you would ban? Quarter pounders? SUV’s? Barbie Jeeps for little girls? Self propelled lawnmowers? Smoothies? Houses over 2500 square feet? Since nobody should have anything you deem wasteful, tell us what else should go. Don’t be a shy dictator.

You really, really need to stop swallowing the Democrat/Socialist talking points and stop the class envy. You’re the simple minded, envious type they love to indoctrinate with their propaganda. Educate yourself and learn to love freedom and the American way.

A private plane saved my wife’s life so I guess we’ll agree to disagree.

When will details of this particular aircraft and its maintenance history be trickled out to the public?

Seems like everyone is blaming the pilot (s) , and probably so, but if the plane fell apart, or had faulty instrumentation, etc. this should be scrutinized much moreso than is now

Just a guess but they may release some of that with the preliminary report in 30 days or so. The report won't draw any conclusions from this but I guess if there was obvious maintenance neglect we would know about it then.

It's early but based on the radio transmissions it doesn't appear the plane just fell apart on its own for no reason or they couldn't navigate. They reported some significant turbulence, "managing icing", and then are tracked flying into a thunderstorm cell.

The plane tearing itself apart in overspeed on the way down is not really the plane's fault or a design failure. I guess there is some possibility the turbulence damaged the plane in flight before the dive but who knows at this point.

There is very little lift at high altitudes and the margins are thin to begin with. Add in the turbulence, icing, learjet wing design, and some questionable routing and it's not hard to believe the plane lost lift.

I tried saying this early on in the thread to no avail.

Glad you finally realized that after you made such an arse out of yourself last night cause you JUST KNEW it was her fault.

Women shouldn’t be flying.

She’s texting her boyfriend instead of paying attention to the mission. No matter what they report this is unprofessional and shows you what they are putting up in the air to safety move people.

bullshite.

If a man did this they would be crucifying him.

The Captain was 55. At what age would he have become professional?
