Obviously, by blaming his 21 yr old copilot who wasn't flying the controls

For all you know she didn’t want to fly into this mess but the Captain overrode her and she had nothing really to do and was scared and texted her BF saying she loved him.
I just finished watching season 2 of the rehearsal literally two days ago when this happened and this thought has been looming large in my head.
For those who haven’t watched, the season delves into how, in the opinion of the shows creator, most aviation accidents are primarily caused by captains overriding their co pilots or co pilots not speaking up at all in a serious situation.

The problem with silly anecdotes like this is that they don’t give you the number of times that experienced captains overrode co-pilot advice that was incorrect and stupid that would have gotten them all killed.
Is basically a meaningless talking point meant to evoke an emotional response.

and she might have been 100% locked in outside of that one quick text to her boyfriend. but if i'm making a list of people that i think would have a difficult time picking up their phone and sending one single text without doing a single other thing on that phone (just a quick glance at IG or Facebook!), i'm putting 20 year old girls pretty high up.
What if instead of a 20 year old female and it was another 50 something year old man and the CVR picks up them complaining about their old lady? Would that be any different than a text 10 minutes before the crash?

So it was a 55 yr old ATP.
That changes the narrative.

The point of the show was good communication between captain and co pilot. I don’t think it was at all anecdotal. It seemed to have a pretty good spread of analysis on this and it was pretty apparent that captains and co pilots basically don’t talk to each other or really know each other when flying together. Not saying they need to be best friends but it seems like an awkward situation and I could see how that could lead to accidents with poor communication.
You’re right though we don’t see all the times the captain saved their arse and nobody knows because the plane didn’t crash and there isn’t a report or investigation.
But I thought it was a pretty incredible use of television for something actually serious masked as a comedy show.

This is why emergency training is so vital. In the instances where pilots overcome massive odds against, it's shown time and again that pilot and first officer that have repeatedly drilled exactly who is doing what(not together, but the company trains everyone the exact same way) how to efficiently communicate, and work the problem through checklists if there's time, is life or death.

The pilot seemed to be praying because he understood it was over long before the co-pilot.

If a man did this they would be crucifying him
A man flew the plane into a violent thunderstorm that potentially caused the death of all nine people on board…and people still want to focus on an inconsequential text ten minutes before.
Feel free to start crucifying the male pilot when you see fit.

Gosh. Texting and TikToking from the cockpit is just what modern pilots do these days, especially the non-Boomers. Get with the times, old man.

Nah nah, the pretty girl sent a text before this happened.
Not the experienced pylot praying to his Allah after wrecking the plane.

They're both at fault. They never should have been even close to that situation. They should have seen the cell on their radar as well.
She shouldn't have been texting in the cockpit surrounded by thunderstorm cells, not sure why you're defending that so adamantly.

Their narrative is that they want to blame DEI
Despite the fact that planes, both commercial and private, are far safer than ever compared despite the amount of new females and minorities "DEI" pilots in the field
They prove the dumb feminist points correct when they begun to blame the copilot as soon as they saw the gender, as if that explained it all

Aside from the known trolls, most people were considering her age as a factor, not her sex.

I mean people have to start somewhere. You can’t just have a bunch of 50 year olds flying every plane at all times. And even if you do, bad things can still happen, as shown with this incident.

Looks like they found part of the elevator, and it was a considerable distance away from the crash site.
LINK
This is not conclusive or airframe failure as the first cause as it could have come loose in the effort to recover from an uncontrollable dive caused by icing. But it does support the view that they lost the elevator during turbulence.
I guess, and I am just WAGing here, that would also explain the 60 degree bank.
ETA: You may have to scroll down to the photos. Linked the best I could.
According to people who seem to know, this is an outboard part of the elevator (C19).

Looks like they found another piece of the elevator three miles away. Can't link to Facebook, but it is on Live Storm Chasers 8 hours ago.

A bit conclusory at this point, but what they were able to see from on board radar is front and center.
