With all the recent crashes, you couldn’t pay me to get in one of those little planes

Nothing wrong with the type. Cessna 182T is a nice airplane.

N60381 left Jackson MS (HKS airport) this afternoon heading to Shreveport.

Small, private aircraft go down all the time.

Aircraft enthusiasts will tell you otherwise because they don’t want to admit the truth, but you’re much safer on commercial airlines than you are private.

That’s irrational. Plane crashes are mesmerizing, so each one gets in your news feed. Meanwhile, there were two dozen car crashes, with fatalities, near you.

Well, hell yeah, commercial is safer. You have two professional pilots and a more demanding maintenance program than for general aviation.

That’s not the point, and no pilot disagrees with that. The question is if general aviation is more dangerous than many other things you do - jumping on a trampoline, for example.

If man was meant to fly he would have wings.

Wouldn’t shock me. We were on weather hold for 6 hours this morning for icing conditions.

Even with general aviation aircraft, most accidents are attributed to some type of pilot error. That can include a pilot's decision to fly in IMC conditions, or experiencing spatial disorientation.
