yea those dangerous figure skaters flying out of Wichita in a plane following protocol to a t (by all current accounts) were such a massive threat that we had to send a Blackhawk on a suicide mission to take it out
Cease your mockery.
Russian spies are known to pose as figure skating instructors.

Is it possible if the collision had happened a bit earlier before the plane turned towards the runway and had more height that this somehow could have resulted in collision with some of the capital buildings? I’ve never been to DC so I’ve never seen the approach or anything but it seems like from the coverage that the White House/National Monument/etc. aren’t that far away from the runways.

With the ATC audio, why would ATC not have warned the army pilot more times? There was a collision alert very visible. I get they are busy, but I’d assume when he asked if there a visual and the collision alert didn’t change he should have reached back out?

Sounds like quite a lot of the passengers on the CRJ were teens and youths and 2030 Olympic hopefuls in figure skating returning from Development Camp

Just found it yeah that is definitely on the Blackhawk Pilot.

Its so difficult to believe that this is possible in 2025. My boat (not fancy at all) can give me collision alerts with very high accuracy with about $2000 of equipment.
Maybe in that area the helicopter pilots get so many of these alerts, they become numb to them?

They probably turn it off. I know I have mine off once I get in congested areas. That's not really what it's meant for and it will go apeshit in harbor.
But, you know what I mean. ATC radar had to be going ballistic prior to the crash.

Guessing once pilot confirms visual and will fly behind the aircraft then atc is done with that communication. Thsmese planes fly scarily close to each other enough that it triggers an alert but that probably happens all the time.
Almost like there is no way this system could work but it does.

I read on another site that the TCAS on the CRJ is disabled below 1000 feet due to limited maneuverability. Not sure if that’s accurate or not.

Damn that is tough. My brother works at the major rink in the area. I wonder if he knew anybody on the flight. That’s a tight knit community.

We’ve dodged so many near misses in the last few years. It was only a matter of time before our luck ran out. Freaking tragic…

Your boat operates in a much simpler 2 dimension environment.
