I doubt that airplane could've even seen that helo prior to impact. The plane banking down and away from above it...

ETA:

I should have just said "Agree with that 100%"

That could make sense. They said there are planes landing and taking off there like every 30 seconds.

This makes me think the helicopter was looking at AAL3130 when the ATC told them to fly behind it, and not noticing JIA5342 right in it's flight path

I don't know, when ATC tells them to go behind the CRJ, the Blackhawk is at 300ft and the CRJ is at 600ft elevation. Seems like he would be very visable out the front screen. The CRJ would have never seen the Blackhawk being 300ft below him.

One of y’all flies daily? You must have 365 good friends. I lived in DC for 3 years and used to fly out of there too but didn’t think that could have been me. All I thought of was damn that’s right by where I used to live

Well seeing as we are (were) flying out tomorrow at basically this exact time, yeah the thought crossed my mind

I was right about the guy who crashed his chopper in Lake Charles and the Korea crash and no one liked what I said then either.

Looks intentional
I'm not a pilot and as a layman it seems like hitting a moving plane with a helicopter would be fairly difficult, let alone managing to place a helicopter directly in front a plane, from the side, at the precisely correct millisecond. And since you only get one shot at it, it seems like there are other things you could hit with a helicopter with a greater chance of success. A military Blackhawk would have a much higher chance of approaching sensitive targets in DC than most any other aircraft.

And if that is your plan, why target a smaller jet that has fewer potential victims and less mass to target?

Can any pilots weigh in?

Though if it was a recording of a man the video probably doesn't exist. Or this thread.

We have the audio recording of the traffic controller who was directing the CRJ and the Helo.

It was a man.

Broadcastify - local responders are saying they've recovered 14 bodies so far. They're rotating diving crews and setting up a morgue. Just horrible.

Any midair collision is "difficult", but slightly less so with a slower moving vehicle like a helicopter, and I assume the plane was moving at a relatively slow rate of speed at such a low altitude.

The amount of technology on aircraft these days to avoid this type of situation is significantly better than ever.

This is a significantly massive failure on many levels of redundancy.

Yes, but from my (limited) understanding, this is not really the case for Blackhawk helicopters (or maybe helicopters in general compared to planes).
