Also, lets play some devil's advocate here...

This is the argument used by the anti-gun lobby. Its not guns! Its the people who can buy the guns!

Lots of hog hunters have them. Keep them locked up securely and never have the first problem.

IMO they serve a purpose but personal accountability needs to come into play.

Just wait until your future sister in law has kids of her own. That pit bull treats that child as its own. That's when the "well behaved" pit go crazy. When the pit thinks other kids playing with the pit's 'kid' is attacking its child, the pit will defend its child.

I see what your aiming for but guns don't go bang without someone pulling the trigger. Apples and Oranges...

This is like if I had a shite ton of rattlesnakes and let them live in my back yard and do as they please. If they bite someone and they die then that's on me, the owner. Even if that person was just standing in my back yard to look at them there is still the premise that I know these animals are inherently dangerous and if I own them then it is my duty to ensure the safety of the general public by taking proper precautions.

Yeah, great idea to let it hang around your toddlers.

Huge difference. I've never seen a firearm attack someone without a person attached and involved

this.had one for 15 yrs. that was a great dog, kept him within my yard the whole time.most owners of these dogs don't give a flying frick about them or people they may hurt and that is the problem.

Seriously, when I think about it.. No I have not. This is based on my observation, but living in a small town (and I am sure its like this on most places), there are certain parts of town where I see them often. And no, I am not just referring to "the hood". While that is one place I see them, the other are trailer parks. And the ones in trailer parks are usually the ones who defend having these dogs.

I am not getting into the whole story, but I remember one time this girl told me about her pitbull and how sweet is was.. It just loved her little girl. The kid was a baby and she was saying how the dog would just go lay on side of her... And all I could think about was.. "what about when that child is old enough to move around and decides to grab on the dog?". It just seems like having a load gun around..

Scared as in she would just leave the area, not become territorial.

But again, I'll never leave my kids along with a strange dog. Ever.

It looks like they have a spelling bee to rely on to keep their minds off this tragedy.

Any dog at any time could go off and bite someone. That's a fact.

The problem is if my lab bites you it physically can't do the damage that a pitbull is bred with the capability to inflict.

If you have kids and a pitbull you might as well sit a bomb in the middle of your living and wait for it to go off.

The boy who was killed was white.

Not bringing this up to place any sort of different "value" on this, just thought it was noteworthy considering the area of town and how we may be a little patterned to seeing these incidents disproportionately hurt minority children.
