I wasn't even given the option for a treat. My wife's father use to make her buy him a carton of Marlboro reds, at least she got a Ring Pop...

I was raised by my grandmother from the time I was a baby. That’s why I grew up calling her momma, she was the only mother I ever knew. She was born in 1920. At that time her father grew his own tobacco and would dry it out in a shed on their farm. When she was about 5 or 6 he father taught her how to go to the tobacco shed, roll him and cigarette and light it for him. That’s how she started smoking before she was past 1st grade. She smoked until she was in her early 60s when she finally quit. It was too late though. She already had emphysema. The last 4-5 years of her life were hell.

Bought many a pack/carton for them when I was a kid.

I can't even count the number of packs of cigarettes or loose tobacco I bought as a kid-----and beer too. It was nothing for a parent or other adult to tell a kid to run to the store and get a pack of smokes or a 6 pack of beer for them.

I remember my dad smoking Lucky Strike and if money was tight, he'd tell me to get the loose tobacco with rolling papers like Bugle or Target since they were $.15 a pack cheaper.

No Mom & Pop store owners had any problem selling kids cigarettes or beer when I was a kid.

Chicago Cubs v Boston Braves 1948

In those days, photographers were allowed on the field, provided they remained in foul territory.

The story of when Bob Dylan met actor John Wayne
no picture just a short clip on youtube

LINK

When asked if he and John Wayne hit it off right when they first met back in 1966, Bob Dylan said: “Pretty good actually – the Duke, I met him on a battleship in Hawaii where he was filming a movie, he and Burgess Meredith. One of my former girlfriends was in the movie too. She told me to come over there; she introduced me to him and he asked me to play some folk songs.”

“I played him “Buffalo Skinners,” “Raggle Taggle Gypsy,” and I think “I’m a Rambler, I’m a Gambler.” So he told me if I wanted to I could stick around and be in the movie. He was friendly to me.”

Pondarosa pine paneling..

Wife and me bought a house in the 70s that was built in the 50s that had that same paneling in the family room...study. The kitchen cabinets has the same wood too. Lol

The wife had professional painters paint all the wood....The painters about cried after every brush stroke and told us more than once that we shouldn't be painting over that wood.
