From that 1948-vintage newsstand photo of the comic books being sold, the comics used to sell for a dime. If I had a dollar, and could purchase ten of them, I'd go with these:
1. MR. DISTRICT ATTORNEY: DC title based on radio show
2. BLACK CAT: Harvey Comic's female super-hero
3. MODERN COMICS: good Blackhawk stories
4. WHIZ COMICS: Captain Marvel, Ibis the Invincible
5. KERRY DRAKE: good Dick Tracy imitator
6. YOUNG ROMANCE: Simon & Kirby, solid storytelling
7. ROY ROGERS COMICS: Roy, Dale, Trigger, Bullet the dog
8. PLANET COMICS: Fiction House sci-fi anthology
9. ALL WINNERS COMICS: Sub-Mariner, Blonde Phantom
10. SMILIN' JACK: aviator from comic-strip

I know it is a gif, but this dancer was the coolest cat on Soul Train (other than Don Cornelius). ALmost always wore a suit, and always had the perfect moves.

Tareyton is what my parents smoked. Bought many a pack/carton for them when I was a kid.

My mom was as well... She made me ride my bike to K&B to pick her up a pack of Tareyton 100's... With 50 cents back in the 70's...
I give her shite till this day about making me do that...

My momma smoked Pall Mall Gold back in the 70s. I remember being like 5 years old and she’d send me into the store with a dollar to buy her a pack of smokes and me a candy bar.
