What was the damage to your roof like?
It tore up some shingles, and there may be a small hole. There was a leak into the kitchen before the storm let up. Thankfully no rain in the forecast. Insurance company is supposed to be hooking me up with a tarp, but I'm still waiting for that call.

Don't worry, that sonofabitch is coming down as soon as I can get a tree service out here. The maple next to it also.
If you drive in 4 2 inch pipes at an angle around it and stake it down, it'll be fine in six months or so.

You might take this opportunity to get it removed while it isn’t on your house.

I'm surprised that chair and bbq pit didn't blow away.

That pic is after I reassembled the pit. The lid was in my neighbor's yard.

Gonna have to push it back over on the house for the insurer to pay anything for the removal.

Why don’t more homeowners do this? We’re given plenty of warning. I could see myself getting creative and taking precautions like this if I lived close to the coast.

I would take that thing out. Too much of a risk now that it’s partially uprooted

That was considerate of your tree

Winds come in from east,
Judging from those pics, the wind came in from the west.

winds turn around
Again, judging from the pics, the wind turned out of the east.
I kid, of course. But, I once had a grown man look at some pictures of damage to a house I lived in. Looking at the damage, he swore the winds were out of the west because of, "The way stuff was leaning and had been blown." The dumbass literally believed that when looking at pictures, it was just like looking at a map.
To this day, I still cannot believe I had that argument with a grown arse man who was older than me.

Now cable stake her down and let her grow more roots.

Go ahead and roll it with tp right now. It will be therapeutic for you when you cut it down after the arse whipping LSU has coming on Saturday.

You may want to go help that other poster determine if the shingles in his yard are his. Sounds like you know what do to.

VERY COOL! I'd be concerned with that thing falling over with the next storm though. Gonna take a while for those roots to dig in.
