NOLA was fantastic, but Down II was pretty damn good too. For some reason I never checked out the 3rd album, I recall hearing a track from it and not caring for it much.

Saw Down at Tipitinas in 2006, was one of the best live shows I have ever seen.

Edit: Anybody heard the old Pantera when they were still glam metal? I always meant to try to check those out but never got around to it.

RIP Dimebag and Vinnie

How big nationally was Pantera and Phil Anselmo?

Admittedly the most metal I followed were bands whose music was sometimes labeled metal and sometimes labeled hard rock. A few AC/DC songs are about the most screaming I can enjoy, but even though this guy is from New Orleans I have never heard of this guy or Pantera in the music industry.

I recognized the name from his father’s shutdown restaurant not because of him or his music.

They sold millions of albums, including one that debuted at number one, and headlined big arenas all over the world. Pantera was the metal band of the 90s and Phil is a top 5 all time metal frontman.

Username was originally a combo of being a Dallas and a LSU fan. Baton Rouge Cowboys sounded like a gay dancing broadway production.

For some reason I always thought he sang this:

I've got that LP somewhere, Bra.

Derrick Lefevre of Contraflow has been in classic rock cover bands in NOLA for about 30 years. Was lead singer for Lillian Axe for a short time. Dude is an amazing singer and can sing any genre of music.

Zebra has a new album coming out soon and they played a song from it called "Direction" at Family Gras today. Amazing song. It's on YouTube.

I don’t care what anyone says. Dimebag is a top 5 guitarist of all time. It’s really not debatable.

Phil told buddy of mine while pissing at urinals (maybe Last Stop or Dino's in Fat City) that he fricked this black chick in the arse and still jerked off to it.

I don't know Phil but that's what I was told

In the 90's, when most metal bands were going softer, Pantera went heavier. Then went #1 with Far Beyond Driven.

They played our Frat Parties in the late 80's. I had no idea. Also, frick Phil he's the reason Dime Bag got shot.

I'm partial to the Iguanas.

Former federal prosecutor Matt Coman and I worked the door for the band at certain venues in the early 1990s.

Come on, man. I generally fall on the side of Dime and Vinnie in the whole fallout and split, but the person responsible for those four people getting murdered that night is the crazy, shitbag shooter. Bands split all the time. Fortunately, batshit fans don't kill bandmembers very often.

Honestly, and not to get weird, but I would really think better of you, based on prior posts and contributions, than what you do here.
