New Orleans has more lead in its water than Flint, MI.
The water system has so many leaks that those leaks are actually helping to forstall subsidence in some neighborhoods. However, that water hollows out the subbase of streets increasing the frequency of potholes. The sad part is that New Orleans was awarded millions after Oatrina to fix its water system, claiming it was damaged by the storm. However, they simply stole all the money, never fixed the water system, and then when FEMA found out that the water system's damage wasn't from the flood, they demanded their money back. That's right, New Orleans now has to pay back the money they recieved to fix their water system that they never fixed, but the money is gone. Sickening.

As much as I love the city (in spite of all this) and as often as I'm there, if this happens, I'll never set foot there again.

That would be the French Quarter
Exactly. New Years, Mardi Gras, and Sugar Bowl constitute about 4 million of those.
Wait.. Sugar Bowl??? Time to rename that too.. how about Cupcake Bowl?

In the year and a half I lived there prior to Katrina, I never once drank from the tap in my apartment. I kept bottled water in my fridge.

No, not really.
But if it ever got that bad, the city just wouldn't be worth returning to.

and to prove my point that this is more about control and victory over other points of view, the statue is being taking down, all most done and the "winners" are still chanting "take it down".

The slack in each of these straps aren't even so this should be fun when they pull it off

this does not seem like a sound setup for 14k lb statue

These are the same people that have never paid one single Nola property tax bill ever in their life.

Half the city? As in 50% of the city is an eyesore? Is that why 12 million people come to visit the city every year?
To be fair, those 12 million people aren't coming to New Orleans to visit New Orleans East, Central City, etc. New Orleans has some of the most beautiful homes anyone will ever see, but within four blocks you can also see some of the worst you've ever seen too. It's quite the mix down here.
