Friend,

You do not know how happy that would make me. Would you mind if I brought my 1928 Book of Common Prayer and conducted a layman's vespers service? I will work on a hymn list for our hymn sing. Mother could make us hot chocolate and it would keep warm in my Thermos! Oh, Salmon, thank you for giving me this hope!

Yours,
TulaneLSU

mRNA technology has advanced far beyond that article in just the last 2 years.

Source?
I don’t have a source handy and am way outside of my field, but I read about the advancement and use of lipid nanoparticles as delivery mechanisms that has really helped the mRNA degradation issue.

It might be a little subtle for some, but that is funny.

Very sad to see the change in attitude from a light hearted hangout to PT Lite. 2020 did a number on the OT.

So he's like me. Not really worried about covid. At least not so much that he is rushing to get his own vaccine.

And let's not act like him taking one for himself would keep someone else from getting the vaccine.

I feel better than I already did about getting the vaccine after reading the paper you are concerned about.

It was overall very positive towards mRNA vaccines and they thought it was superior to other vaccines in many ways.

And not let’s act like if he took the vaccine that anti covid-19 vaxxers wouldn’t claim that he “took a placebo for show”

You serious Clark? Is there a finite amount of vaccines? Or are they constantly producing them now. Him taking one wouldn't stop a single shipment. There's another one right behind it.

Now if he showed up at some place that was giving/selling the vaccine to the public then you might have a point.

Eta: I'm not even an antivaxer. I'm just not concerned enough to run out and get the vaccine.

Note it says “possible concern.” Didnt say it had actually panned out. Also looked at those tables and all those trials were in stage 1/2 with apparently pretty small sample sizes (i didnt delve into the subject numbers of each trial)

The citations they use for that paragraph are extremely weak. They are basically an overview of the proposed mechanism of interferon in autoimmune diseases and then they infer that mRNA viruses could cause autoimmune diseases because they produce an interferon response.

That’s a huge leap

Many things produce an interferon response

Yes. They are literally being rationed and delivered in a prioritized tiered fashion because of it.

Then why are people not going to be able to get a shot for months?

you can’t be serious with this unbelievable inability to use basic logic

Because they've just now started making them. Do you think they are able to produce billions in the blink of an eye?

It's a process and as they are made they are shipped out. But keeping one from shipping out doesn't mean there's not another one right behind it that will get shipped out.

I think it's appropriate for him to wait to get the vaccine. I'm not going to rush out to get it either. After the better part of a year of not having a vaccine; I'd like to wait a little longer and see how the competing vaccines work.

It's supposedly only good for 3 months. What's the harm in waiting another month or two and observing the results. If there's a noticeable decline in infections and side effects seem minimal - I'll gladly get one to help with herd immunity.

How long does it take to make one vaccine?

Exactly. So there is a finite number available right now and him taking it right now would prevent someone else from getting it right now.

Do you not know what finite means? Are they going to just up and stop making the vaccine?

The narrative shifts to support whatever preconceived belief they have. He takes it and it's about the rich and powerful jumping to the front of the line, he doesn't and it's "he knows it doesn't work and is scared of it".

I hate this country so much right now.
