A snake owner was killed by an 8ft (2.4m) pet python he called his "baby", an inquest has heard.

Daniel Brandon, 31, died from asphyxiation at his home near Basingstoke, Hampshire, on 25 August.

His mother Barbara Brandon said her son had owned Tiny since it was small enough to fit in his hand. He never felt threatened by Tiny and was aware of how strong it was, she said, but there were occasions when it would "strike out" if she entered the room.

Scientific name is Python sebae
The rock python is Africa's largest snake
Can reach lengths of up to 7m and weights of 90kg Native to Sub-Saharan Africa
They are non-venomous but have a devastating power to constrict their prey before swallowing it whole In the wild, they can prey on animals such as monkeys, warthogs, antelopes and even crocodiles

It’s the owners fault. Just don’t know how to raise em. My pet viper is the sweetest most harmless snake in the world. It sleeps at the foot of my four year old daughter’s bed every night. If a stranger comes in the house the only thing it may do is lick em to death. Wouldn’t hurt a fly.
Plus how else am I to compensate? I can’t afford an exotic sports car or 100k truck

It’s like those videos where you see 6-8 ft pythons “cuddling” with someone’s kid and they’re all like “Awww, isn’t that sweet”?

No bitch, that thing is sizing their asses up for lunch.

African rock pythons are very aggressive. They are the ones that have bred with Burmese pythons in Florida, creating a larger, super-aggressive hybrid.

There are much prettier and much less aggressive pythons and boas out there. Trashy purchase, and since he never lived to learn that reptiles can't be trusted, he's dead now.

Bring on the crowd that will say the python was only doing what pythons are supposed to do. I'm so sick of this crap. Animals have no accountability for their actions. Until that changes these types of incidents will keep occurring.
