Keep it up. You posting your story on this message board alone was reason enough to stay with us.

sometimes you shouldn’t say anything if you don’t have something nice to say. This is one of those times. A person trying to give hope to someone on Christmas Eve who may be struggling with a similar situation isn’t a bad thing by any means. I know you probably thought it was witty but it wasn’t. Kind of pathetic actually

Here's another who - finally - broke the chain. Thanks to my long-suffering wife, my reason to exist. It can be done. Good job and good luck, friend.

Yeah I spent Christmas a couple years ago in detox going through withdrawals throwing up nonstop and only thing I could stomach for a week was Ensure.

Fast forward and life’s gotten better for sure. Merry Xmas and my advice is just stay plugged into the community. I have waaaaaay more friends now than ever to the point I can’t go anywhere without running into people and keeps me from doing all the things I was doing

I was just thinking how nice it is to wake up before everyone on Christmas morning with a cup of coffee and "feeling good", not hungover.

Life is great sober brother.

Dam! Powerful stuff. I just wish more people would stop and think before ending it all on a whim. Seems you are proof that things can get better even when you think it can't.

I have a good buddy who's rock bottom wasn't a low as yours but has a similar story to tell. I think he's 2 or 3 years sober now. I haven't gotten a rambling late night drunk phone call from him in a long time.

Congratulations on your sobriety. May you continue that way for the rest of your life.

went to my first AA meeting. My life changed forever.

Good for you. Not everyone can make that journey back. That took a lot of fight.

Merry Christmas.
