Because normally you would code a patient if they are dying. These patients we are not coding if they lose a pulse

So are you stating as fact that EBR is severely under reporting the number of deaths due to covid ?

We gonna run outta rooms? Lots of useless covered sports facilities being a tad underutilized i’d say.

Oh I agree there are some batshit crazy nurses. Don’t read the nurses on fb sob stories. Most are over exaggerating. I’m just trying to provide some info from my perspective. Most are chillin but we do have some really sick pts. This virus ain’t no joke

There are less than 30 cases in the BR area last I saw. I would assume maybe 1/3 at most are hospitalized.

OLOL alone has at least 100 ICU beds......

Might run out of nurses. Nurses are quitting and no agency or travel nurses are available right now

So in general, how many covid pts do y'all have
How many icu beds do y'all have
How many vents left to use
Are patients in the hallways?

Being totally serious with these questions.

It’s really terrifying that there are non body positive fatphobic nurses out there that are literally letting people of size die

Pts are not in hallways. We have opened a couple units strictly for covid pts and they are quickly filling up. When I say the hospital is almost full, you have to realize the hospital is usually at full capacity without covid. So with this influx of pts we are at full capacity. And also we do not have enough icu nurses. These floor nurses are not equipped to take care of critical pts.

Supplies to the ER nurses is getting bad. They have masks still but no eye protection. Seems they are just going out and buying some eye protection and keeping them wiped down. But they are reusing their masks I know. I did ask about ICU and a nurse just said "yea they getting crazy" was all I got.

That's not necessarily Covid though regarding ICU, he just telling me they are busy but nurse I asked is pretty new so not sure. All the ER nurses are cranky as shite right now, understandable so I just give a report and get the frick out. We've taken quite a few possible Covid pts in but I haven't gotten a call saying one is confirmed, at least from one I've transported.

What type treatment are the covid pts requiring? Treatments? Observation? Vents?

Take care man. I'm really considering sewing masks but I have my doubts about them .. do they help and are they getting decontaminated or are they getting thrown away? I mean I know how it SHOULD be done but ..

I'm not sure I've seen a "homemade" mask but I've heard people are doing it. Our mask are thrown in a box and once we run low are gonna be decontaminated. Our eye wear are wiped with Clorox wipes after any possible Covid run. We put an N95 on us and a regular surgery mask on the pt, those of course get thrown away, in a special trashcan designed for it. You take care also.

BR General all if ICU is full of Covid patients or those showing symptoms so they'll probably contract it at some point. Normal ICU is being moved to Outpatient area. Looking to bring Mid City back, but don't know where they'd get the resources to staff.
