We need to dump puerto rico and soon. Just break all ties. For the cost it’s value isn’t there.

I very well might have misunderstood your post, but what policies have white people set in place that make black people more violent? I'm not talking about 60 years ago, but relatively modern times.

Eh… none

Or that a train full of coal can power about the same amount of energy as a gallon of NG. Sure coal might be dirty, but it’s also extremely inefficient.

You might be thinking of SSI (supplemental security income), which is need-based and has no work credit/payment requirements.

My 9 year old gets SSI for autism. I've paid in, but he for damn sure hasn't lol

Humm, are you trying to infer that it is easy to get disability? I needed back surgery and could not afford to take off months of work to recover. It took me 17 months to get approved for disability and that was actually pretty quick so far as disability time frame goes. It takes a very long time even if you have rock solid proof that you are in fact physically disabled. I had a disk that was completely collapsed.

I finally got approved for disability so that I could afford to take time off for recovery. My disks are severely degraded from decades of manual labor.

The one good aspect is that IF you are approved you get back pay for all the months you spent waiting.

Would be interesting to see a comparison of the numbers in the OP to the demographics of each state.

From a practical POV, it is very unusual for any minor to have the work credits to qualify for SSD, and since SSD has no familial sharing of accounts, SSI is the only route for most minors.

My work in the legal area is from back in the 90s when I chose SSD/SSI work to meet my firm's pro bono requirements. The SSD credit requirements have changed significantly since then and are graduated by age but still make it almost impossible for a typical minor to qualify for SSD.

I took a lot of SSI cases for people with AIDS which was relatively new at the time. The SSA made it basically impossible for this cohort to get SSI until someone was on death's doorstep. I don't know if it was the reason behind the policy but I always thought it wasn't about the finacial burden of the monthly checks but the cost of giving them Medicaid. I have to say they were my most favorite clients because as a group by far they were the most appreciative.

I am not sure what you're implying by calling me this but I guarantee you, as a former paralegal, that SSDI is not easy to come by unless you have obvious medical issues that are well documented.

1st time I applied application rejected. Hired attorney. Re-application rejected. Appealed. Attorney went up against SS's so called expert in rejoining work force and took him to the woodshed based on what's in my medical record.

SSDI is not welfare. It's for those who can't work due to medical conditions that are sometimes not visible to the naked eye. I am mostly mobile but sometimes have difficulty walking. I parked HC one time and some random a-hole started interrogating me about my parking in that spot.

Not all handicaps are visible and people need to mind their own business. Different story if I didn't have a hang tag or mobility impaired ID.

And by the way, it took over 4 years to get SSDI. It isn't as easy as you think it is.

Approximately 38% of Californians are enrolled in Medi-Cal, according to data from late 2024 and early 2025, which translates to about 14.9 million people. This figure indicates that more than one in three state residents rely on California's Medicaid program for health coverage.

Just think, Gavin wants to turn the entire US into California.

According to CoPilot AI.
Approximately 20% of Louisiana's population receives food assistance through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), according to a July 2024 report by the Louisiana Illuminator. In fiscal year 2022, 794,922 individuals in Louisiana participated in SNAP, a federal program that provides financial aid to buy food.

For instance. California is at 13%. But that’s more people than the state of Alabama’s entire population

This! When you think those numbers arent that bad then you look at the population. Yeah NM, WV, LA, MS etc.. you are not as low as you think.
