I hate seeing that kind of shite. For one, it’s hard to get someone in the service industry who can take your order in English, so I appreciate whenever I see some of them working hard. I made it a point to be polite, say thank you, etc.

best way to combat that is say thank you, you're doing a great job, i know its not your fault that you are understaffed at the moment.

Did you say something and stand up for the girl since it bothers you so much?

I was standing in line to get a sub a few minutes ago, and the two older women, which you don’t want pictures of, were just abusing the shite out of this poor girl working the counter. She was the only one in there, it was kind of busy, and it seemed like all her coworkers were on break or something. Poor girl was running around and these two ladies were just being super bitchy.

No. I was going to punch both of them in the throat but i'm just a gigantic pussy. Instead of making a huge scene, like I obviously should have, I made it a point to comment on the situation and tell the girl thank you; all professional and civil like, basically a gigantic pussy.

Wish I would have just punched those bitches in a public setting and gotten arrested though, like an alpha bamf.

Came here to upvote, also this:

quote:

Y’all are the reason most fast food chains hire bottom-of-the-barrel who can’t get my order right.

Come up to DC where the fast food people are all from Guatemala and/or Honduras. They're generally fast and get it right, even special orders, despite not speaking English very well.

They speak English just fine. They just don't want to speak to your filthy, gringo arse.

I always get a little tweaked by those videos where some bae pulls up to the courthouse to pay a ticket with 10 wheelbarrows of pennies. What the frick did that poor girl behind the counter ever do to deserve that shite?

know we've all seen this behavior from affluent people

Not the uber wealthy. The worst are the wanna be rich progessionals, mainly lawyers and doctors. Ive got a friend who managed hotels in seattle and hawaii, he?says the really rich are decent. The next tier down is the worst. My experience in tourism agrees

I go out of my way to be nice to restaurant people, but I can’t lie that I have fairly high standards when it comes to service employees. As someone who waited tables for 4 years and was REALLY good at it, I don’t have a ton of patience for subpar service. Call me snobby, but I’d say 1/3 times I’m totally satisfied with a waiter/waitress/bartender.

ETA wow I just reread that and I sound like a giant count. maybe I should lighten up, Francis.

One very important thing I learned in the Army.

Don’t piss off whoever handles your Food, Finances or Supplies.

ESPECIALLY a sandwich shop. Anyplace with uncooked food. frick that.

The person making my sandwich could berate me and I’d say nothing.

I used to have one buddy who would get mouthy at drive thrus during the 2am post bar feeding. WTF?

A. You can’t see your food.

B. They’re pissed at drunks anyway.

I used to work front desk at a doctor's office. You get treated like this as a matter of routine. All races but mostly older folks. And if they're going to treat you like crap, they don't need a reason.

As a resident, I have learned to truly respect front desk employees at doctor's offices - especially the good ones. They are front line for all the shite and nobody is happy.

Why didn't you take up for the little girl then?

Sometimes the small guy needs someone to rescue them. You'd appreciate it as well if you were in her shoes.

I do this often enough that my SO can feel it coming and will say, "Don't you dare.." before I get a chance I walked a middle aged man out of Sammy's with my arm locked in his because he was treating the girls so badly.

He didn't understand what I was doing when I locked arms with him and thought I was being sweet. I opened the door for him and told him he should be ashamed of treating teenaged girls like that, and shut the door behind him. His face was priceless.

What's even worse is if the assholes doing the verbal abusing of the worker then posts some crap on an online travel advisor or whatever website. Yes, people are breathless wanting to learn of your dining experience at Denny's!

It's different but I wouldn't say more. The rich white people are more likely to treat you like scum out of some notion of superiority and the poor black people are likely to treat you like scum due to lack of ediquette/looking for free shite. The service worker catches it from all over the place.

Yep. Also - I'll take stuck of rich assholes any day because they might be rude, but they always tip well. Lower class assholes are rude AND they don't tip.

I've found that those people are typically middle-aged women.

If they're white, they look like this:
