Exactly, and they also expect people to watch and care for their kids.

But by God not correct or discipline them.

Those type of people are the third worst type of people in the world, behind Rottweiler owners and cyclists.

Larry David wouldn’t roll his eyes and take the dog. He’d stand there at the door asking things like.

“So you brought your dog?”

“Why?”

“What about the invitation made you think it was ok to bring your dog?”

“Where don’t you bring your dog? Where do you draw the line? A funeral? Do you draw the line at bringing your dog to a funeral? Honestly, I’m just curious.”

Dog people are ok but dog people who feel like they need to impose their dog on others are TERRIBLE.

Yeah... skin and gut the fricker and serve his barbecued loin slathered in hoisin sauce, over a bed of corn tortillas and shredded lettuce.

"Your welcome" for the psychoanalysis and for my secret dog recipe.

Why not let it go and bring it up to them later? Don't be so high strung.

I would have said "you didn't ask about bringing your dog and I'm sorry, but we don't want the dog here for the game".

No one should assume they can bring their pet over without asking. No host should have to include "no pets" on the invitation.

Next time, though, you'll have to tell them this is a "no pets" party.

Just got back from Lowe’s, and some dude has his dog at the hardware store. When did dogs go from just being accepted at Petsmart, to people bringing them to non-pet stores?

Did you exclude dogs in your invite? What about kids, anyone bring kids, and did you exclude kids from your invite?

Yea no kidding, I’m going to a party next weekend and bringing my cow, there was nothing in the invite about no cows allowed.

They’re not accepted but companies are scared shitless of saying anything and offending some and starting a Twitter shitstorm

I don’t get it either. Grocery store by me had to start posting giant signs on the door telling customers only true service dogs are allowed. Yet I still see people prancing around the produce department with their dog on a leash.

I’m a big dog person. Love my dogs and have enjoyed bringing them to dog friendly places. But I would never just bring them with me shopping unless I was going to Petsmart.

OP, you sound like a dick for not being generally welcoming of dogs in your home.
How is that a dick? I don’t want an animal in my house, therefore I don’t own a dog. It’s absurd that I wouldn’t want someone else to bring a dog to my house?

We have many friends with dogs, none of them have ever brought them to our house, or even asked if they could. IMO, it would be weird to even ask someone who doesn’t have a dog if you could bring your dog to their house.

It should be assumed today that dogs are always welcomed.

Nope.

I love dogs and would probably always say yes if asked, but it should not always be assumed that your dog is always welcomed as a guest at some one else's house. There are lots of obvious, fair reasons why you maybe shouldn't just assume you can bring your dog.

Maybe people have allergies. Maybe people have other pets that won't interact well with yours. Maybe there will be elderly or very young children that can't be around dogs that might be too rough with them or vice versa. Any person with a hint of awareness of etiquette would at the very least ask before bringing a dog to someone else's house.

Anyone who uses the term "doggo" should be banished from society.
