How fricking annoying and inconsiderate is that? We have a get-together/watch party last night for the LSU game and this invited couple just decides to show up with their overgrown Golden Doodle. Needless to say, I was pretty peeved.

The dumb thing was a fricking hassle as he was overly excited all night. They march him in through the front door and I passive-aggressively made it clear that I didn't want it in the house. I put him out back where the grill and a small gathering was. I didn't want it next to the grill - in which he was always nosing around and licking at the grill's utensils. That was fricking annoying. One of our friend's daughters was recently nipped at by a Dauschsund, so she was terrified all night. And then, he fricking knocked over a guest's curious toddler who then proceeds to cry uncontrollably for 30 minutes.

Just a complete shitshow. Before you bring your dog over to someone else's home, just fricking ask first. Is that too much to ask?

It should be assumed today that dogs are always welcomed.

As a host, you should have made it clear otherwise.

You know who is happy right now? The Golden’s Doodle and his owner.

You know who is not? The OP.

“Passive aggressively”

Be a man about it. That was your problem.

Why didn’t you just tell the couple from the get go that you really don’t want people bringing dogs over and that they should have asked you first?

And after they go drop their dog off at home and head back to your place to stop at the store and buy some more beer.

That’s what a real man would do.

Why should he have to, nurse? What douche assumes bringing an animal to a party is ok?

I don't dislike dogs. We had a standard schnauzer for 11 years. I never brought him to other people's homes without first asking. I quickly ushered the dog out to the back, where he belonged. I didn't want the dog jumping on our furniture, licking everywhere in the house, pestering me and the other guests while we were watching the game. I wasn't the only one annoyed. Some guests don't want to be drolled and slobbered on while they are watching the game or chatting with friends.

I agree with being direct with them. That being said, I've noticed this to be a trend in my small bubble. Not everyone thinks your dog is great

Not at my house.

Why should anyone assume their dog is welcomed at anyone else’s house, especially people who don’t have dogs of their own.

Why should I have to? The whole point is don't just show up to someone's house with your pet without asking first.

If I had a "pet" python, is it okay for me to just show up to a bbq and plop him on the floor?

I was at a party and someone walked in with their dog..The dog ended up taking a giant shite in the backyard. The best part was the owner of the dog stepped in their dog's crap..It was a good laugh.

Nobody ever complains about people who "show up" with their cats.

Another reason cats > dogs

I would never bring my dog over without asking. Clearly this couple lacks basic manners.

But you agreed to let them still come in with the dog....and are now complaining about it.

Again....should have been upfront with them
