At the gas station down the street from me there's a cabbie that will pull up and block two pumps just so he can sit somewhere in the shade until he gets a call. Pulls in, turns off the car and starts reading the newspaper.

Got gas one morning and he was there. Got done and went back to my house and then heading out an hour later and when I passed the station he was still sitting there.

It's really annoying when they do it at a diesel pump, go inside, then come back out and sit in car for 10 mins. Then slowly leaves

they could be going to pay inside
smaller gas stations don't have parking spots
maybe something at the pump isn't working
maybe they need to purchase something inside AND get gas and went inside first.
finally, this is a stupid thing to get upset about.

If you do that at a busy gas station you deserve to be beaten senseless. It's so rude

I do it all the time if it's not busy though

I've left in this situation, but it was more out of sheer laziness than any sort of "social ineptness." Especially if there's an adjacent station.

I'm not gonna do the whole walking back and forth rigamarole if I don't have to.

If you got to go in while you gas is pumping, it's one thing. When you pull up to the side opposite your gas tank with no intention of ever even faking a gas purchase, leave you truck running ( cause you think it's almost like you are are a big boy driving an 18 wheeler ) and go in to buy special scratch offs, this color cig, and have to do slow azz stuff w a debit card ( real men have a roll of cash in their pocket at all times) ......

Some gas stations have no parking spots but still have a shop inside. Sometimes if I need something from the shop but don’t need gas I’ll park out of the way against the building. Otherwise there’s always at least several other pumps available.
