I will shite on Myers-Brigg as it has no profitable impact on my organization. Furthermore, my previous employer would use M-B as well. Both companies lack the follow through to actually use the data for corporate gain.

Any supervisor worth a damn should already know what makes their employees tick. If you need a doggone quiz that is best left to Cosmopolitan magazine then that supervisor needs to spend more time with his direct reports. There are so many better ways to influence employee productivity and inclusion.

If you don't find any benefit in it, then OK.

I would contend that it's not really useful for large-scale implementation. You're right, most times organizations never follow-through and the whole test and analysis ends up being a waste of time. I think it's more suited for smaller organizations or only for groups of colleagues that have to work a lot together. Not for entire offices.

If you're a good manager who intuitively understands your direct reports, then that's great. A lot of managers need some additional tools to help them manage.

I can say unequivocally that M-B has helped my work relationship with my supervisor and direct reports. As a result, we've experienced a lot of increased efficiency, and less bullshite meetings and discussions.

Yeah keeping emotions bottled up and having fits of rage is the way to go instead

Yeah, I've taken Myers Briggs for two of my jobs, but they've only done it right out of the gate instead of waiting a long time. I think it's a good indicator to management who they will be dealing with and how to handle them. Not as useful for a manager who has known his team for a long time, but it's a good head start indicator on how to handle your new employee.

It is best to "Keep it together". Oversharing emotions is a sign of weak whacko that can't be trusted with anything of importance.

I think it is wise to know when to display emotions and when to delay emotions. I am of the school that it is never wise to display emotions while you are experiencing them.

i came from this school. This is how I was raised. Men don't cry. men don't show any emotion but anger. There is no fear. There is no sadness. There is no joy. There is no shame.

I was diagnosed at 41 with a variety of health issues. Turns out that there is a link between your emotions and your health. Hold that shite in and it effects your heart. Like actually effects your heart. I am in process of trying to unlock my emotions. Not crying for 30 years takes some undoing.

I cannot stand public displays of emotion, especially from men. I have to change the channel when they show a grown man crying in an interview.

I come from the school of thought that showing your emotions is weakness.

Not being able to show emotions is a weakness and doesn't make you more of a man than someone who can show emotions.

Yes, I would say being a counselor is difficult when you yourself view those who need your help as weak.

So you volunteer at the soup kitchen. Do you think those who come through the line are your peers?

I used to tell my ex that I didn't care and that I wasn't paying attention when she whined and bitched. That is part of the reason why she is my ex

If I'm volunteering at the soup kitchen, I seriously doubt I'm standing in judgement of the people I am there to help.

Sounds like you're the one who could benefit from some counseling.

What makes you so uncomfortable about seeing someone being emotional?
