Ours rolls; 4 weeks total but I keep a week in the bank to cash in at the end of the year. We take a 2 week vacation each year somewhere out of the country.

Only time we didn’t was when fiancée was having major knee surgery and I had to take 2 weeks to drive her around and shite for appointments.

Mine stops accruing at 240 hours but I make sure to take enough days so that I don't lose any of it. Since I'm with a smaller company now, most of my tasks do not have a backup so it can be difficult to take longer vacations due to the extra work before and after the time off.

At my last job I could bank 200 hours, and I earned 16 hours per month. So, I let my hours get up to 200, then I just took 2 days off every month without losing any vacation time. It was pretty awesome

30 years at the same firm, I’ve been the boss for a while now.

Technically in the handbook I’m at 3 weeks of PTO with 2 weeks of verifiable Sick Leave.

Neither the PTO nor the Sick Leave rolls over.

Probably have averaged right at the 3 weeks per year of personal time off.

I also have a perk with really nice “Company” Travel two or three times per year with that time away not figured in the PTO.

Spousal costs included.

I’ve taken exactly one sick day since the 1990s.

And in retrospect I really wasn’t that sick that day.

I used to end up having to take 3 or 4 days at the end of the summer to avoid losing them. Those were the best “off” days. Do some work around the house, go back to my parents house and bale hay, play golf. Not the case any more since I have kids, most of it’s used staying with them when they get sick.

I’ve found the folks who give back vacation are often the same ones who stay at work until 6:00 every night who like to complain about it but still seem to get less done than everybody else. They either don’t want to go home or just like to have something to complain about.

Right? Or how about not taking off a random Thursday. Take off a random Monday or Friday to give yourself an extended weekend. Go on a trip or something.

I get four weeks PTO, plus up to 10 personal health days, plus 15 holiday days. I just take a bunch of long weekends.

I actually enjoy where I am now. I’ve banked 230 hours at this time. Max is 320. So I intend on two weeks. One I am in the middle of and the other in July.

Last job I hated. And they made you get your own coverage if you wanted off. Knowing that there was none due to the crappy job. Sadly they just made it easier to call in sick. Which is a shitty thing to do, but a shitty position they put me in. With that place I never let my PTO get above 40 hours. Sometimes 60. I was always afraid of being canned or them being shitty and not paying for some reason. That way if they kept 30 hours it still sucked, but not like 300 hours

I get zero paid days since I’m straight commission but I don’t take nearly enough off.

I really need to correct that. Company probably owes me 30 weeks or so. But if I’m not working I’m not selling anything
