Don’t all the casinos have to have a full ship crew. Think that’d be a sweet gig since the boats are permanently hardened to land.

When Tulane University is the 2nd biggest employer in New Orleans, there are no big companies left in the city.
Universities employ a shite-ton of people, so this would be no surprise.
Hell, if you take away the "State of Texas" away from Austin, then UT is the largest employer.

There’s no real difference, in practice, between the legal system of Louisiana vs common law states. Louisiana has some different terminology that’s all.

They’re all hard to get into if you’re a middle aged straight white Christian male

I've had lawyer friends tell me Louisiana clown arse civil law keeps a lot of good lawyers away. Is there any truth to that?
The poorness of Louisiana is what keeps lawyers away. Not enough businesses. Few criminals have money. There are a finite number of car wrecks to go around and the PI mills snap them up.

Our civil/criminal procedure is the same as everyone else's, at the technical level. Our "civil" system relies on jurisprudence, and all of the "common law" systems use code books. It's all basically the same shite these days.
In addition to cheesedicks advertising themselves standing on top of 18 wheelers and hosting dash cam giveaways, another problem with our legal system involves lawyers thinking the above description of civil law is accurate.

I’ve heard it’s hard to get on, but once you’re an Exxon company man, it’s a big gravy train until retirement.

Or the plant gets sold. XOM sold my brother’s facility in Montana about 2 years ago. I think there was a 3 or 5 year prohibition agreement preventing him from being considered for rehire by XOM. I may be wrong about the length, but I know he’s talking to them about coming back, likely to Beaumont where he started with them.

Meh. Not as easy to coast as it used to me. And getting on as a skilled laborer isn't all that hard. The nice office jobs are tough though. And many companies have been actively moving these jobs for many years to the headquarters or overseas, so it's getting even harder.
My buddy works for Shell in New Orleans and he says it's very hard to get on with them. He was a specialty engineer, which is the only way he got hired.
As noted earlier, the River Boat mafia controls their field with an iron fist.

First: Are you, in fact, a member of the bar in Louisiana or any other state? If so, where?
