Well, if your family is more important than completing your work obligations you won't have a job or a family to provide for because you spouse will leave your broke arse.
Family is 1000 times more important. My kid gets sick I'm out the door. Never had an issue with loser boss/coworkers over sick kids.
Suck a 8====D incel!

I use my kid (will be plural here in a few months) as a way to get out of going to social events that I have no desire to go to.
My youngest just graduated HS and I'm still trying to pull shite like this. I've got to get more creative or my life is going to be hell going forward because my old excuse just doesn't work anymore.

It is annoying when coworkers with kids will unload their obligations on those without kids and act like that is somehow fair.
I don’t have kids but don’t mind picking up the slack of someone who wants to go watch their kid’s soccer game, but it’s nice if they at least acknowledge the fact that I’m making a sacrifice on their behalf.

People who use work obligations as an excuse for not parenting their kids are the worst.

Much more to life than work.

I'm sure the person that we let go is going to have an easier time providing for their child now that they don't have to worry about pesky salary.
Family is more important than anything else in the world. Can't make accomodations for my sick kid, I'm out the door and you are short an employee.
New employees are hard to come by these days, with the government basically showing everybody that they don't owe their lives to a job, so good luck at trying to find one.

People do use that excuse, but from my experience it's usually something serious like an illness and not "I have to take my kid to soccer practice". Though some abuse the situation I find it in the minority
Now what is used as an excuse all the time is "I can't have meetings at that day or time because of my kids".

I do think women like to blame shite on their children

frick work. I’ll prioritize my family every time because the vast majority of companies don’t give a frick about their people.

You're free to take your time off for that reason.
When I take time off to go do what I want don't bother me because you don't think what I'm doing is as worthy

Do you think anyone cares what you do with your vacation? Serious question.

I think there are plenty of people that deem your vacation isn't as important as their kids so their time off trumps yours.
As a concept, I agree, but it's not up to them to determine when I can take my time off to accommodate your schedule.
And yes, I think that happens all the time. People want their coworkers without kids to pick up their slack or acquiesce to their schedules all the damn time.

No one asked you to have a kid.

Very common in my experience.

People with kids think their work schedule, time off, etc trumps people without kids schedules in every workplace. Cindy left today at 2pm because her kid blah blah blah.
Well tomorrow I think I am going to leave at 2pm. Why? I want to go have some beers at Hooters and watch the game. Same excuse as far as I am concerned

I'm genuinely curious here... when I leave to go get a sick kid or watch their honor roll ceremony- my work is there waiting for me. In my position, there isn't any pawning stuff off.
What field are yall in where if someone leaves early you have to catch all their work immediately that day then and there?
