I knew two people that committed suicide.

The parents and other family members were devastated.

I can only imagine the grief, pain and thousands of questions that are going through their minds every day.

Anyone contemplating suicide, please get help.

You are loved by many folks.

They say that because the vast majority of the time suicide is a selfish act. Looking for personal relief no matter how it impacts others is selfish. Pushing through when things are hard or seem hopeless is almost the exact definition of courage. Sorry if you are going through something but that doesn’t change the fact that your OP is void of logic. Reality doesn’t change because it hurts your feelings. That’s doesn’t mean that somebody who takes their own life has to be remembered as a terrible person. They were almost assuredly going through a very difficult time but their last act was a selfish one in most cases

It is a cowardly act… it’s also an act that lacks perspective(it’s people suffering more than you)… plus it’s a selfish act(the epitome of thinking of only yourself)

I’m glad I grew poor…my family was hard working though… just took years to build what we have mo(which isn’t much by OT standards but we’re comfortable… but it teaches you ain’t nobody going to feel sorry for you in this world… happiness what you make it

It’s odd to me how people have more sympathy for the loved ones of people killing themselves than the people who actually go through it and do it. But given the state of mental health in this country I’m not surprised

People say it’s cowardly because the person who kills themselves doesn’t have to deal
With any of the consequences of their actions. It devastates everyone who loves them. So yeah, it’s a bitch move to leave your loved ones in pain and suffering when there is nothing they can do about it while you just end it because things got a little hard for you.

Why should I have sympathy for someone who is already dead? What good does that do?

If "offing yourself" is a legit escape from your life, in which it seems your loved ones don't care about you, walk away, reclaim your life and find what it means to be happy. We are only here, but for a short while. I don't know what our purpose is, besides honoring our creator, but being miserable is not it. May you also find your way. Best wishes, friend.

People misuse “cowardly” very often. Terrorism, for example, is usually called cowardly. The 9/11 hijackers were often called cowardly. But they were extraordinarily brave.

Often the more powerful antagonist refers to the weaker one’s tactics as cowardly when they are really just exigencies related to the asymmetrical nature of the fight. The Americans who fought the Revolutionary War were called cowards by the British because they would not stand in the open and get massacred.

I have a lot of sympathy for people struggling with severe depression and mental illness. But most of those people don’t exist in a vacuum and leave behind children, parents, spouses who loved them dearly when they end their own lives. Children of parents who commit suicide are 3x more likely to commit suicide, themselves. I won’t pretend to understand firsthand how that level of depression feels, but it makes my heart ache to imagine burdening my son or my mom with the pain suicide would cause, and the increased risk of my son doing the same.

I know people going through the same thing it sounds like you are. It's an awful situation and you have my most sincere sympathy.

There's that quote you hear oft-attributed to Robin Williams a lot of time about how to be kind to others, because they're all dealing with a struggle you know nothing about. It's very real. Suicide is becoming more and more prevalent with the continued spread of the internet into everyone's life. And there's a gaping void of mental health resources.

I'm so sorry, man. My prayers are with you and yours.

I am praying for you now , my dude. Life is indeed heavy and seems like too much at times . Just get through it and come out on the other side . Clarity and acceptance comes in its own time and in that time of confusion and grief and betrayal , personal failure or whatever , you are going to hurt. Just feel it and know it will pass and you’ll be ok.

Fact, and it pushes the trauma onto others while allowing you to escape it.

It makes your kids significantly more likely to do it themselves. That alone makes me say it's a bitch move and to quit being a pussy. And if you're a nihilistic atheist who thinks life has no intrinsic meaning then I will also say quit being a fricking retard.

I’d rather suffer through it forever than put any of my family through the same feelings. Sorry you’re having a rough time OP.
