If there is nothing growing then the area would be covered by mudslides.

Do you want them to salt their burned lands as well?
He means desalination plants.
I too don't understand why they cannot desalinate ocean water

What if the fire has almond allergy? Not cool.......

Ah yes...that is a VERY good long term idea...douse everything with salt water to ensure NOTHING can grow there ever again.
No more fires.

It really aggravates me everytime California has fire problems that there is a water issue.
Like come the frick on. Y’all know this is gonna happen so it’s time to start investing money into a fire supression system. Start utilizing that gigantic freaking body of water the state sits next to as a way to bring emergency fire water in.
I know it’s hard to imagine but it’s literally an endless amount of fire fighting water.

Cali has a larger GDP than most countries and they tax the hell out of their residents…I really don’t get it either.
Maybe this disaster pushes them towards that.

It's unsightly and will undoubtedly lead to more climate change which clearly leads to these types of fires.

You don’t have to douse everything, just the edge of the fires. The problem isn’t what the salt would do to the land; it’s what the salt would do to your fire water piping. That isn’t designed for saltwater and the expense of doing so would be prohibitive.

I met an almond farmer in Visalia CA a couple months ago. Nice old man who invited us to his farm but we didn't have time. He said the farmers there call them Amonds.
That's all I got.

Helis could probably still scoop up ocean water to drop on houses on fire.
If my house is on fire, I'd welcome a salt bath and deal with that issue later.

it can't stop a fire
Easier said than done with the winds they have had. Louisiana dealt with this last year and a slight breeze was enough to frick stuff up

The irony is that almond growing is one of the most water intensive crops grown. The almond industry has stolen tons of water from L.A.

Is it time to build more desalination plants in CA?
It would seem like either there's a misallocation of that water too, or they just don't have enough facilities in the areas more prone to wildfires.
Blaming EVERYTHING on "climate change" sounds like a lazy answer that will never fix this problem. Neither will allowing something as absurd as fire hydrants being void of WATER.
EDIT: Didn't notice the other posts addressing this- but "I'm with you fellas."
Porposed map of facilities

The idiot mayor cut 17 million dollars from the fire dept budget and the fire chief is a dei hire that’s absolutely clueless

Desalination plants take the salt out

There isn't a city in America that wouldn't run out of hydrant water battling a fire like that.

Eh. We have a shite ton of water and snow pack. But we're wasteful as hell with it by not having more reservoirs built.

Funny that your explanation also provided the solution.
