If you are in Hawaii, Alaska, Guam, or another country, I totally get it. I had to translate CT to local time in Guam once, and then realized half my times were wrong because Guam does not recognize Daylight Savings Time.

I do not understand people's confusion with CT, ET, and PT (and to a lesser extent Mountain Time). I learned about time zones watching Saturday morning cartoons as a 5 year old kid.

Be like China: one official time zone.

quote:

The country’s west, especially in Xinjiang, see sunrise as late as 10 a.m. CST, making children go to school in the dark, and sunsets in the summer as late as midnight.

I have no shame in saying that I have central and eastern time zones locked in, everything else is just an educated guess

Just tell them that if they need to convert central time to eastern time, they need to add 6 hours to get to the Coordinated Universal Time, then subtract 5 hours from the Coordinated Universal Time to get to the Eastern Time Zone. Then apologize that you don't have time right now to do the math.

That's 2:00 in Nova Scotia.

ETA: Or probably 3:00. I don't really understand either.

I was surprised to learn when I moved to Japan that they have convinced themselves that today is actually tomorrow. Weirdos.

You're gonna traumatize a lot of posters on this board talking about time changes and setting clocks. I'm sure they still haven't recovered from moving the clock back last Sunday.

Many here might be shocked to know some places are not full hour differences. Some are half hours different, like Afghanistan and some others. It’s 7:50 pm there right now

It used to be confusing when part of Indiana didn't observe Daylight Savings Time, as well. I believe the whole state observes it, now.

Most people would fail geography tests if their lives depended on it.

Always surprised me, its a fascinating subject.
