Few years ago my doc wanted a talk about gun safety.

I looked him in the eye and said,"doc more people are accidentally killed by doctors than firearms every year."

Instant mutual understanding! We talk exclusively about my health now!

My kids Pediatrician's office has a sign straight up saying, if you badmouth this clinic/etc on social media we reserve the right to no longer see your child.

ETA Just realized they were just being pussies. Not worried about their reputation. Sorry.

That was part of the Obamacare rules which were passed before we had a chance to read them. As part of ER intakes they ask you about guns in he home, suicidal or homicidal ideation, financial issues and other personal and intrusive questions which are none of their business unless you want to make it their business.

And it will become part of "Meaningful Use" and if doctors don't report it they get their pay cut.

This is something that should be done. Some parents post every moment of their kid's life. No one should be posting a picture of their 3 year old taking a bath, even if it doesn't show the kid's guppy or whatever you call a girl's part.

If I were in high school and my mom went around showing people pictures of me when I was a kid and it includes pictures of the first time I used the toilet or something, that would have been some serious shite. Now, there will be some people who will have all kind of information out there on them.

In 20 years when that kid is looking for a job, if his mother never took down the pictures she posted of him.. Do you want a potential boss to google and be able to see you the shower with your dad, standing right under his balls or something?

Who would think of it as anything but a way of getting your kid to shower? I don't have kids yet, but no normal parent would think of that in the way that you are

I had a similar conversation with my son's pediatrician his very first visit. She looked right at me and asked how many guns do you have and are they properly secured? I said first off, what makes you assume I have guns? She says, Well, you're a veteran and you look like a gun owner. I said Doc, If you know my veteran status, shouldn't you be asking me how to properly care for and secure a gun? I may not have a PhD but, I have a DD214. Do you?

There are definitely some parents that need to have that conversation. I don't know if it's the Pediatrician that needs to have that conversation but someone probably does.

Safety is definitely a big part of that. When you read about what some of those creepy bastards do with pics they find of kids on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc it'll definitely make you think twice about what you post on social media.

Doesn't have kids, proceeds to to talk about "normal parents."

ERs may ask you "Do you feel safe in your own home" but that's been done since before Obama, and ERs don't ask those specific questions you stated to every patient, not sure where you got that from.
