It’s very muddy and shallow close to shore. Nobody with any sense is going there for the beaches.

It’s not very muddy anymore and the fact that it’s shallow is the perfect scenario for anyone with small children. You can literally sit on the beach and let your children play (even non swimmers) for at least 50 yds (much farther when the tide is out). In Orange Beach, you need to be on kid like a Hawk or they’ll get sucked away.

I did it for 4 years, from Picayune to Kenner. Absolutely horrible. Non stop idiots driving. Thankfully Im retired now. If you get in a wreck, they'll probably run, or no insurance, and cops probably won't show up.

Terrible place, don’t come here- stop looking. Absolutely shite. Anyone who says otherwise is totally wrong!

Go to Destin- much much better. Even Orange Beach. Actually, I hear Seaside is really nice.

Almost bought a house in there until I talked to the guy living next to it. Said they have to move their cars up on the road when it floods. Figured it would be too much trouble, but it is nice otherwise

You answered your own question.

The run-off from the Mid-West farmland with fertilizer & pesticides Into Mississippi River combined with the run-off from the refineries and pollution in general, all of that eventually makes it Into the USG.

And Lake Pontchartain right next door is always rumored to have Randy
turds floating by.

I caught encephalitis when I was 8yo In The Lake, almost killed me.

The entire water system in the Mid-South is an environmental issue. They need to
Clean it up, the lake at least

If schools are a consideration, go Pass Christian or Long Beach. If not, any of the three are fine. (I'd extend your search to include Long Beach since it's right next door.) BSL has a Louisiana flavor to it. It's schools have been a mess recently, though. Diamondhead is just a big golf community, but it's north of I-10 if hurricanes are a concern to you. Pass Christian has kind of a blue collar/fisherman population with schools that have been the envy of the entire state. Long Beach has good schools.

Pearlington. You can get ten acres and a house on the bayou for $250,000. You can fish inland or be in Lake Borgne in 15 minutes.

Water quality in the large back bay area north of Biloxi is poor with high coliform counts that impact the Gulf waters in the vicinity.

Delisle is just north of Pass Christian and east of Diamondhead. Plenty of open space and close to everything.
Supply and demand at work here.

People aren’t building there.

I wonder why?

Ask a local Realtor if they’d move there.

Buy a lot and build. Waveland close to buccaneer state park.

Lots are cheap, homes are outrageous.

Summer house in PC on Bayou Arcadia just off Wolf river. Been here since just before Katrina. Was severely messed up from Katrina now back pretty strong. Have great summer neighbors, beautiful sunsets and close to good fishing.
