What's wrong with getting someone else to help the customer.. Order was fullfilled, the employee was able to hold to some stupid belief and party city was able to sell more balloons. Making this a big deal does no one a service and will just perpetuate the entrenchment on both sides..

Anyone that refuses service to any client without having authority from the head of the business should be fired on the spot, no questions asked.

Because if the order was for a bunch of rainbow colored balloons for a gay pride event, and the employee refused to wait on the customer, the employee's name would be blown up on social media right now and they would be fired.
