I'm not certain that's her call to make unless they are somehow taking ownership of the site from the developer.

Unless they classify it as a threat to the public until it goes down to the ground?

LaStupid Cantrell said she’s issuing a city demand that the entire building must come down. Not to be salvaged.

Good luck with that

This means the City is going to declare the building as an immediate danger to collapse to fast track the demolition of the entire building.

Sooo...they clear the bodies out, someone secures another few million from Hard Rock for the demo, take it all down on live TV, and give us another few weeks to debate the topic on here?

Chicken will have a slew of exotic cars in the garage by Christmas.

Unless she was referencing what someone knowledgeable on the matter said, who cares what she thinks?

She can do it if it’s immediate danger to the public. They do it with blighted houses all the time. City demos it and bills the owner. I don’t know how It would with something this expensive and vast though.

Read the ordinance if you like

Cant be. Martini, in his vast construction knowledge, told us the base and first 10 or so floors would be saved.

yes, the city can rescind the building permit and declare the building a hazard. They absolutely can insist that it be secured and then demolished

One has stood for nearly 2000 years, one didn't even stand long enough to open. One is made of stone...one might as well be made of paper it's so cheaply built.

Can I get a run down of everything that went down?

I know the cranes were demo-ed and it seems like it didn’t go well.

Based on what I have gathered-

Both counterweights came down.

One crane fell off the building and is sticking straight through Rampart.

The other nearly fell into the Saenger but got stopped by the elevator shaft of the hotel.

It’s considered a success but mostly because they didn’t blow themselves up in the process.

The city can do what you’re saying I guess but good luck fighting the lawyers that represent these developers, Hard Rock and GC.

Lol I'm sure the city has the discretion to revoke permits following a collapse during construction.
